considering the downturn in highend horsepower, and the upturn in topend, from Just a can change, the overall isn't that great, but the attitude is there.
as one can see, the change isn't especially large with an aftermarket can, but it pulls for Longer in the RPM band. with a header, the shift will be further, and greater. and with more fuel, I am to assume much better things. 90 to the wheels, perhaps. The x-tre seems to untrap 1-2 as well.
however. seeing as how I laid the bike down in the rain just in time for my season to be over, lol, my winter might now be spent making it decent again. ugh. so much for a hot rodded 650
I had my exhaust de-catted, an after market can fitted and the bike dynotuned using a Yoshimura management box which allows you to change settings on your ECU. Power was up from 79.2hp to 87.1 (7.9hp) torque was up from 58nm to 61nm with a gain of 2 - 3nm from 4000rpm till 12000rpm
Gains were very simular to fitting an Akrapovic race system (no cat)

How does one "De-cat" the exhaust header? That sounds remarkably cheaper than a 300 dollar salvage yard 1250 header. finding that thing is getting TOUGH.

I think a 12.5 low is possible, but that's a lotta runs to find out. my carbon exhaust is coming, hopefully a bandit 1250 header is coming soon, the xtre, and some dyno time with a PCIII usb.
bring on the topend horsepower.

I'm not sure if the GSX's have secondary butterflies, but if they do remove them and you'll love the improvement it makes in your throttle response.

Hey Metrick, just curious about you 1250 boys, What exactly do you do to mod your airbox? I cut the center rib of the inlet tube out, removed all rubber castings on the inside with some 320grit, now to block up my PAIR valve...
Also, what's the proceedure to remove said butterflies?

well if that's the case forget it... lol... as for the PAIR crap, my bike now refuses to idle. I guess I'll be plugging it back in and running the quiet baffle for some backpressure til I get it tuned.

I bring it up to around 7 grand, and clutch out HARD. as in the front wheel pops, and sometimes even carries through the 60 foot sensor at the dragstrip. start out clutch out soft with high rpm, and work the clutch a lil harder, til it starts either spinning, or lifting, either one. then you're ready.
