just had it back to dealers for 11000 mile service ..
they commented that the chain was a bit worn with a tight spot .. they suggested replacing it in another 3000 miles or so ... that's about 5 weeks from now ..
it's been lubed regularly but not cleaned ... and adjusted as required

it is a bit low for a new chain,
Part of the wear is likely due to a deterioration
of the O-rings between the rollers and the side plates.
If a chain doesn't get cleaned occasionally, grit gets trapped in the chain lube and damages the o-rings and allows the grease sealed inside to get out.
hence the ware and tight spots.
The chain problem can also sometimes be caused by battery acid from the overflow tube on some bikes......I had this happen on a GS750 Suzuki many years ago when the electrical system was overcharging.
