Where is the best place to tap +12v power on you bikes ?? I need to install a radar detector that requires 12v power and I dont want to connect it directly to the bike's battery.

I connected directly to the battery and used a relay tapped to the brake light wire so power is off when key is off. I have my heated grips and one outlet on this line.
I have another outlet with no relay on all the time for my phone. Two come in handy for me because I travel a lot and use a GPS and a cell phone that burns through its battery.

I dont want to accidently drain my battery and the connector for my radar detector is a single wire so I would want to tap 12v power at a "switch" source. Also I am about to install LED turn signal bulbs and I will need to replace the stock flasher relay, where is the stock turn signal flasher relay located on the bike ??

Can you tell me where is the flasher relay located?? I dont wantto use the flasher relay as a sourse of 12v power, I just need to know where it is so I can replace it with a LED relay.
I think I will just connect the 12v power right to the battery, that may be the easist way to go.

Thanx, I found the flasher relay. In case anyone is interested in replacing your factory light bulbs with LEDs, I found several 'heavy duty' LED flasher relays on Amazon. Just go to Amazon and do a search on "Suzuki 7 Pin Flasher Relay". Replacing the factory relay with a heavy duty LED relay is better because you will not need to use those LED load equalizers for each LED light you install on your bike. Just plug-in the LED relay and then you can install as many LEDs as you like. If you are not doing LEDs the 'heavy duty' relay is the way to go so you will not have to ever worry about your relay failing and not working correctly. I still need to find a good place to tap 'switched' 12 volt power, anyone got any ideas ??

Re relay i have all led lighting except low and hi beam. I left flash fast, gets other bikers and cagers attention. So i use the stock relay.

That IS the same effect I am going for, getting attention. I got a set of flush mounted LED turn signals from "CustomLED" http://www.customled.com/products/flush ... hmount.htm. They have 22 leds in each signal light, 16 are the running lights and 6 are the 'blinkers'. Also you can choose different colors for your running and blinker lights. For example you can have white for your running lights and amber as your blinker for added attention getting.

Find the fusebox, behind the black left cover under your seat Look at the underside and find the orange striped wire. That's the switched 12V
Thanx Lampie ! ! You would not happen to have a picture of that so I will know EXACTLY what to look for would you ??
Found a picture on the internet. Find the square fusebox, with the indicator relay beside it, just flip it upsidedown, and you will find a thick orange/Yellow wire (with a stripe) that powers multiple fuses. simple put the connector between the plastic side and the 12V strip use a tierap to secure the wire

I am planning to add a cigarette lighter socket so I can charge my phone on the way, and I am going to tap the hi-beam wire from the fuse box. Charger won't take more than 2A so the hi-beam fuse will be plenty, and I won't have to add another fuse.
By the way, whatever you do with extra connections - make sure they have a fuse in them BEFORE anything else... Having an unfused wire accidentally come in contact with the chassis will cause a BIG mess. Read "fire" under your ass. And Murphy's Law says it will happen at the worst possible time

Thanx Lampie, finding that yellow wire under the fuse box was right on time. I just installed flush mounted LED front signal lights (check my post 'Flush Mounted LED Lights) on my bike and I need a switched 12v power source. Thanx Again ! !
