MCN did a nice little vid on the new GSX1250F. Looks damn near identical to the 650 with some subtle styling changes. I wonder if the extra 600ccs is usable and practical on the road. Maybe a test ride at the local shop is in order.

Ride it around some corners for 5 minutes, say it's all good and that's it!!!
I thought he was testing it, not just showing that yes you can get a knee down in the corners on this bike. That wasn't a road test, it was a lunch break.

i was talking to local Suzuki dealer & he mentioned it may be coming to Oz, the gsx1250f . it's a bike that i'm very interested for use as a daily grinder. I hope Suzuki give it a 650f style paint scheme and offer a GT touring version.

I think it will sell very well here ,I would be suprised if it didn't make it . But like 99sydrd ,I would like some decent paint of some thing but it looks to plain ,but you could add some aftermarket decals I guess.

You already have the bike, the bandit 1250, difference is the gsx650f fairing and the silver motor, avail with either luggage and abs or bikini (short) fairing no luggage, I had an 08, they have changed the fairing here to the gsx fairing on our 2010 as well.

Yeah we know its a bandit ,but the small fairing just doesn't do it for me. Its pumped up as a sports tourer here ,but if you want to tour you need a full fairing IMHO...and this is what turn people away from it as a sports tourer.

there are subtle differences between 1250 bandit and GSX1250FA that I can see (saw a 1250FA for real yesterday)
my suggestion to you 99 is to take a bandit for a ride first as i'm sure some dealers will not let you ride a 1250FA yet due to newness (maybe they will tho) and this will give you an idea of how it goes on the road
regarding the weight, IMO it feels a lot more than 16 kgs different when pushing around the garage so be ready for it. when underway however - what weight

Its just the same as the 650F with alot more grunt @ low RPMs. For instance driving in 6th gear you need 6100rpm for the 650F to drive 120km/h. The 1250 needs 4000rpm. Never need to downshift again.
But the extra weight, weak performing brakes and suspension are a real no-go for me. The frame design of the Bandit serie is outdated. If you look at the frame from 10 years back and now, there are only minor tweaks.

keep in mind its a sport tourer road bike not a race bike designed to win championships , brakes and suspension are not weak performing at all and neither is the frame outdated
Only issue i have with the gsx1250f and the bandits are the color options are limited and bland imo.

If you do anything more then 'spirited' riding the stock brakes (pads?) are just awfull. They are really fool proof and dont bite as hard as I want them to do. I get almost the same breaking power with my rear brake as with the front brake. Probably mostly due to my powerfull calves
And yes by outdated I also mean the use of material and total weight. Come on, all the competition is at least 20kgs less in weight. Guess it costs the much to redesign the frame to alu .

agreed. i recon they should adopt the GSX50F range of colours with subtle differences to distinguish between 650 and 1250

then IMO there is something wrong with either the brakes or the way you use them. there is no way in hell i can get the same stopping power out of my rear as i can out of my front. agree they could be better but all the same, they ain't bad either.

GSX1250FA = 257 wet
ST1300 = 289 dry so add at least 30 kgs to that Sprint ST = 241 wet (so yes this one is lighter) NT700V Deauville = 236 dry so add at least 20 kgs to that (lighter by 1 kg but its a 680 cc engine) 1400GTR = 304 wet FJR1300AS = 295 wet K1300GT = 288 wet
granted some of the above bikes are way above the class of the 1250FA but I took sport tourers on the Oz market that came pretty close Every single bike above is more expensive than the Suz bar none. IMO bang for buck, kg for kg and hp for hp - you cannot beat the 1250FA in the value for money department

Dont really think you can really justify comparing it the most of the mentioned bikes. Most of them are real road tourers, with options like electric windshield and cardan drive shaft which add considerable weight. And fuel tanks which are 6 to 8 liters more. I was more referring to bikes like the FZ1S and CBF1000 because of the "sport" --> and then touring aspect of the bike. Those bikes weigh 226kg and 245 respectively..... mmmz didn't know the Honda weighed that much I had a minor crush on the FZ1S for a while and guess I was blind looking at the specs of the bike vs the 650F weight vs other sport touring bikes.
But besides this, what does the 1250F offer more then the 650F. Only a bigger engine and more topweight.

granted FZ1S and CBF1000 are lighter but IMO both are not comparable with the 1250FA as they are not fully faired. Comparing to 1250SA (bandit) is closer i think. Not sure about where you are but 1250FA is put into sport tourer class and FZ1S and CBF1000 are in sport class. that's according to the makers anyways.

ABS, more tork, more HP, less RPM, different seat that is adjsutable, longer and wider swingarm, wider and higher handlebars, fatter rear wheel and tyre, fatter forks, different spring rates front and rear, different paint colours (boring tho), 530 chain and sprocket set, 2 cooling fans instead of 1, oil cooler, centrestand, less weight in your pocket after buying one, different rake and trail. (you know I'm just being silly, right)
IMO the 650 makes a better daily commuting bike with weekend thrown in than the 1250 but the 1250 is much better at the longer runs and has been known to give gixxer thou's a scare
