Like jayzzz, I've got an Autocom system that I wanted to power from the bike. If anyone that reads this is interested, here are some photos from the install.
First, figuring out where to run the headset lead and music lead. I decided to run them along the left side of the frame, and bring them out between the seat and the tank.
The music lead goes up to my tank bag, where I'll hook into my mp3 player.
I also ran a wire to the battery for ground. Autocom recommends this, and I don't expect to wire up too much on the bike, so one ring on the terminal shouldn't be a problem.
I tapped into the taillight for the positive. Instead of using clip connectors, I used a posi-lock connector. No crimping or soldering required, but they make a great connection, and hold tight. Most of the connector is covered by the wire sleeve, but I left one end out in case I need to disconnect it.
Zip tied all of the wires to keep them from moving around, and placed the Autocom unit where the tools usually sit, using the rubber band to hold it in place.
Took it out for test ride with Mrs. seajay70 to get it dialed in, and it's working wonderfully.
