From what I have read (Suzuki has also released a brochure for it) the GSX1250F is definately on the market for 2010. It would be worth a look at, but I'm still going for the extra pony's of the GSX1300R.

..And for an extra $1500 you can get one with color matching Givi top and side cases, a MRA Vario TouringScreen windshield, and some nifty chrome bar end weights!

Oh god. Now it's just tempting to get this and skip the 650F which I planned on getting next year. Though, realistically, I'm not sure I'm ready for that kind of bike.
IMO, here's $0.02 worth ..... IF you're experienced rider AND you plan on alot of 2-up riding (i.e. you & wife/so/girlfriends) or going to pull a trailer then you may want to consider this 1250cc bike. Otherwise you'll be safer & just as happy with 650F. 1250cc bike is not a beginner's machine. May want to checkout http://www.beginnerbikers.org/ if you are relatively new to motorcycling. They have some great contributors and I found alot of good stuff there.
Stay safe!

I thought about it and for me, stepping up from a GS500, I think the 650F would be plenty for what I want to do, and maybe in 3 years or so I might look into swapping.

Still awesome news, though.
+1, on both counts!

The canadian model is the bandit 1250 GSF 1250, (se model with luggage) 97 hp ; bundles of torqus , fuel inj ... watercooled... abs stnd ... 6 speed 4000 rpm @ 125 kph ... top speed around 240 kph ... i had mine to 205 kph on the gps .. not the speedo. mine was a 07 model, only changes for 08 and 09 were colors. Hp is low but it will pull the front wheel up at the twist of the wrist in lower gears. rode from Ontario Canada to the Grand Canyon , Las Vegas and back in 07 ..... 11,000 kms in 12 days, i would upload a picture of the bike but cant figure how to do it from my photos.
I am a new member here, i have 2 bikes ... 09 gsx 650 with all the luggage and a 09 vulcan 900 LT cruiser with a matching trailer behind it. one is for me ... the other is for we !!!!!. I traded the bandit 1250 for the cruiser , great bike, just not for 2 up traveling. hence the cruiser. Previous recent bikes are 05 bandit 600 and a bandit 650 of which the gsx650 was derived from .
Major change for the 10 model is the gsx fairing on the 1250.
Hope the info is helpfull, when i can figure how to upload pics i will forward some along. Cheers. hey i figured it out.

I don't know much about the innards of a big bike/engine, but can anyone shed some light on how a 1255cc bike can only weigh 26 more pounds than the 650F?
567 lbs VS 541 lbs respectively.
Or does that just seem normal to everyone? I guess in reality 26 lbs might be considered a lot to some people, but I was pretty surprised to see the difference.
bandit 1250 motor is in the same frame as 650 i believe, weight does not include bags, it is avail without in canada. it is a very easy bike to ride , great for passangers on day trips, long distance for passanger is dictated by footpeg height, you are kind of crunched up on the back, weight difference is in the motor, extremely tractiable, smooth , unassuming and one of the easiest bikes to ride, currently avail here for an o9 at $8999 cdn , best deal on the market by far when comparing it to other sport tourers. Having had the bandit 650 befor went to the gsx, i put the hard luggage on my self and a lot of the 1250 accessories carry over to the 650. having the cruiser for 2 up touring keeps the other half happy. 3 web sites for the gsx .... twisted throttle.com and everything motorsports.com, also try cheap cycle parts .com I have ordered many things from these sites, they are reliable and well priced for accessories. cheers Maurice

I actually owned a 1250 which is the identical bike without the lower fairing. Horsepower is 100 but loads of torque. I actually had the bike for a year and traded in for a DL650. At that time there were a couple of things that made me change it. First, the bike had just come out and the seat, for me personally, was a torture rack (literally everytime i went over a bump I got racked). Sargent was in the process of building a set for it. Got on the list and after 6 mos without any news got tired of waiting. Second, don't know if this will ever be fixed. Liter bikes put out a ton of heat and mine at least was an oven at anything above 80 degrees. I can't imagine that it is any better with the lower fairing. I am starting to think that the problem may have been the cat. Finally, unless you are riding two up the 650 has got plenty of juice. The 1250 had so much torque that it spun the tire in first after about 7000 rpm, effectively losing some of the advantage of the bigger engine. Don't want to discourage anyone out there cause the aftermarket has caught up and some of my issues could now be fixed. But when you look at the price difference I personally can't justify. BTW with the liter bikes you have to be pretty judicious on the throttle in mid turn cause it can bite you, especially torquey engines like the 1250
Once you change the sprocket on the 650 and relax the pace at highway speed I don't miss the 1250...

650F has 85 bhp 1250 has 98 bhp
I hardly turn the throttle open in town , so why buy a 1250 ?? Fuel economy is worse than the 650. Insurance is higher, weight is higher, and it doesn't come in nice colours.
