Can anyone help, my 30amp fuse blows for no apparent reason whilst riding, its happened twice, i've checked the wiring and there is no damage. i've tested the cooling fan and thats ok any ideas anyone
Can you narrow it down more, is it while stopped, moving, slow or fast? Does it happen when the fan comes on? See what is on the fuse and can you disconnect those one at a time while on the bike. If you can put an ammeter in the circuit then disconnect and reconnect items one at a time, then you can see if something is drawing excessively. Don't you love electrical problems...
Doing about 70mph when the fuse went the 1st time after about 9 miles , 2nd time about 5mph after doing about 20 miles , both in dry conditions, replace the fuse and it runs ok again unable to connect an amp meter in the circuit. Distance between the fuses blowing was about 50 miles
What recall as i've not been informed any from my bike agent.
For uprating the fuse to a 35 or 40 Amp i would not know what damage it may cause as it does not agree with the spec. of the manufacturer.
I've been back on it for atleast another 70 miles know and the fuse has not blown yet, fingers crossed, but i still am unaware of what may have caused it to blow twice !

Well thank goodness for a little common sense!

But a pity you haven't applied any here - if I started blowing fuses and did absolutely NOTHING to find out why, I guess I'd be crossing my fingers too. That, and carrying a bag of fuses, reg/recs, coils, tools etc etc whenever I got on the thing...

Nitekreeper, you've clearly proven that you have nothing better to do aside from trolling. I think everyone here would agree with me.
NiteKreeper you obviously did not read one of my previous comments , i've checked my wiring and could not find any sign of a problem ( ie short circuit / earth problem / cooling fan siezed or shorted ) but hey thanks for your concern

Oh I read your post Andy, but "I checked the wiring" doesn't really mean much to me. So, you took off the seat and had a look? You understand, right, that a >30A surge like that tends to fry stuff? Like, stuff will be black and stink like shit?
You have a 30A fuse blowing, but no obvious signs of damage - kinda suggests it's not a wiring problem, straight away... Go and read MY post again - I gave you TWO hints for things to check

If a 30 amp surge fried stuff it would mean that certain equipement would not be working ! and hey hey there would be a smell ! But unfortunateley ther is not ! i lifted off just more than the seat ! The machine was in pieces looking for a defect

Exactly mate, exactly. So if you're not seeing or smelling a problem, it starts to look a lot more like an intermittent component failure, right? Now, having had a quick look at the wiring diag one of our dutch friends kindly photographed, I noticed 2 things:
1. The only 30A fuse seems to be inside the starter relay. 2. Hanging off that is the reg/rec.
Have you had your reg/rec replaced under the Suzuki recall yet? If not I suggest you do, post-haste. It might just fix this problem permanently...
Otherwise, and I sincerely hope this doesn't happen, you will pop that fuse again and replacing it won't help a damn - you'll be walking home...
