Hi, i have a problem with my bike and I'd like to see if you could help me.

Its a 2008 650FK8.

The bikes been working perfectly since I bought it 2 years ago but recently it's felt like there's no power when i'm on the motorways.

When i'm cruising at 50-60mph in 6th gear and I turn the throttle on full theres doesn't seem to be any response from the bike, - i.e. it stays at the same speed.

So far I have renewed the spark plugs and cleaned the air filter, is there anything else i should check?

Thanks for any help.

Is your bike at recall status? maybe something wrong with rectifier?

I do 90 kph in 3rd or 4th, try a lower gear? mine sings at 5000 rpm in 4th at 80.

Does the same thing occur at the same RPM but different gear? Or only when in 6th? Is it literally not accelerating (i.e. it's ignoring your throttle input), or have you merely gotten used to the amount of power you get from the engine?

Could it be a faulty or mal-adjusted throttle position sensor (TPS)? Not that I know a great deal about the TPS or what it does but if it lives up to it's name and your throttle poisiton is being ignored, it would be the first thing I checked.

Seems like it must have something to do with the secondary throttle plates, but how and why is another question. I'd throw a fuel filter at this problem though, just because it can't hurt.

You got some serious miles on that bike?
exhaust cat in the header plugged/fouled?
clogged/old air filter?
checked your throttle cable?
that doesn't sound like a plugged injector, but maybe a fuel filter, as was mentioned earlier.
I'd have the tune looked at maybe as a last resort?
