They also make one that can hold two helmets. Paying for it and getting it shipped to Australia cost me just over $70 all up, but I don't regret it for a second.
It is very well constructed and works really well. I would have gotten one even if I didn't have panniers, coz I have always found removing the seat to be a major pain in the butt. Since when do bikes not come with a real helmet lock ?!?!?! Just another cost cutting exercise I guess.
Aussies should note that our liscense plates dont line up perfectly with the holes so you will need to have a 1/4" drill ready. I guess when they say "universal fit" they don't count Australia as part of the universe
But yeah, anyway, I highly recomend the Kuryakyn License Plate Helmet Lock. Well contructed, very tough and very convenient.

Good this was brought up. Can someone tell me how you lock your helmet onto the lock under the seat? My helmet has the the double D rings. I've tryed to hock the rings to the clip under the seat but the strap isnt long enough to reach or its very difficult to hock them.

my helmet has the 2 D rings as well. i generally find myself pretty much sitting the helmet on top of the holder while reaching underneath to hook the rings then placing the helmet down to the side. it's actually harder for me to take the helmet off than to put it on. hope this helps, but not certain if my helmet strap is longer than yours or not.

Got mine from lockitt and installed it today, so I thought I'd share. I went with the dual model mainly for the symmetry, not so much for two helmets.
Much better than removing the seat every time!
One thing that made me go "hmm" is the discovery that the stock undertail to which the plate mounts is a little weaker plastic than I'd ideally like to see. But certainly not enough to be a problem.

I ended up getting the same model as torquedude.
I used it for the first time today and it works like a charm. I put 2 - 1 1/4" fender washers on the back to help spread out the pressure on the plastic fender.

I carry a simple cable and padlock in my saddle bags. When I have to lock my helmet and jack to the bike I run the cable thru the sleeves and the helmet face and loop it around the passenger grab bar.

There is a number of things you can do with a simple padlock, you can get them in pairs that work off the same key from any hardware store...no need to over think it, the cable/jacket thing is clever
You can lock two helmets with one padlock buy locking the "D" rings under the grab handle at the rear of the bike
