Does the packing have to be changed at regular intervals? I have a little over 6k on my can with no ill effects. About much does the packing cost? Thanks!

The repacking is needed so it would still meet noise level requirements. As long as your local LEO's aren't a 100% PITA about this stuff I would never bother in repacking a muffler.

I have a 2Bros on my bike. I currently have approximately 2800 miles on the bike, but as I just got it (yesterday!) I have no idea how many miles are on it.

That said, it is my understanding that: Yes, it must be repacked as the packing material degrades and the exhaust becomes louder.

Here is an article that discusses repacking in general (but the example pipe is a Two Brothers quite similar the model we have).

As to the interval between packing? Heck if I know. It's going to depend a lot on how hot you get your pipe, I reckon.

Frankly, the 2Bros is loud enough without the packing degrading :D

The only reason I would mess with repacking the muffler is because I own a carbon one. once the packing starts to go, it stops shielding the heat from the carbon so well, and it can cause a failure of the "can" in cracking, ect.

Had I known/thought about that, I'd have saved some money and bought a steel one. I imagine it wouldn't be a big deal after the first time you repacked it, but it looks like a real pain in the neck to deal with that first time around, and get the hang of.

Papa r and myself are all :) :) because we have Scorpion exhaust which have a ceramic insert and never need repacking.
