Hi everyone,

My mechanic is the one who replaces tires and adjusts the chain, etc. but I noticed that one of the chain adjustment screws was loose so I tightened it up. I was reading the owner's manual regarding chain adjustment, and I couldn't even budge the axle nut. Anyone else have this problem? Or am I missing something?

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Its not the chain adjustment plates that hold your axle but the axle-nut. If properly done, its torqued to 100nm/72lbs. With proper leverage (a normal X tire iron) you can easily loosen the axle nut. About the loose axle plate, it can happen and not harmful as long as the chain is properly aligned.

Thanks, Kadett. Yes, I realize that it is the axle nut that holds the axle.

It is the aligning of the chain that has me confused.
