Because of fuel injection, once throttle is let off to change gears, the rpm drops too fast to me (back to idle), which makes a bad shift more likely. I had other suzuki katanas with carbs, and the rpm does not drop so rapidly, which causes good shifts. My only solution is to tach it up more so it drops down less so good shifts are made.
Yes, this all makes sense.
Just some thoughts of mine.

Just blip the throttle when you shift.

I noticed how quickly the RPM rises and falls on these things too, took me a day or two, now I'm used to it.

I tend to think there are a lot of inexperienced riders on this board. I have never had problems shifting this bike. i have right at 7000 miles on the engine now.
If you're shifting quickly there is no way your motor is dropping more than about 1200rpm between shifts let alone going back to near idle.

I haven't had any problems either. It's an FI bike so throttle response will be different than a carb'd bike that you are accustomed to. You just have to complete your shift a little faster :)

Try shifting with out the clutch. 8)

Ride along in 5th gear on a open and clear straight road.
Have your revs at 5000rpm ....blip the thottle just a touch...very very small twist and then back off again to 5000rpm .
At the same time ,puting "alittle" pressure on the foot to change gear up.
The foot gear leaver will slide up to 6th ,and you will of made the smoothest up shift EVER.

Once you have done it ,you will laugh at how easy it was and how smoooooth. :D

I can do it up and down gear ,but only do it for fun when I'm bord on long rides.
