After taking out the bar end weights i cant get them to tighten up..am i missing something..i have all the correct parts but when i go to tighten them the long screw just spins

I don't use the screw at all. Tighten therubber so its just started to squash ,then you can jam the rubber into the bars ,once in the bars just turn the bar end and it will tighten it up.
