I noticed that the harness that crosses the battery has marks on it from the seat rubbing on it. I'm concerned that, over time, this will break one or more wires in the harness. Is it possible the battery is too tall, causing the seat to touch the battery and compress the harness? Any thoughts about this problem? And no, I'm not so heavy as to crush the seat down onto the battery!

Update -- I've done some investigating and I think the dealer did indeed install a battery that is too large (too tall). I'll speak with the dealer about this tomorrow when I take the bike in for servicing the rectifier recall. On the topic of batteries, are there any recommendations for good batteries for the GSX650F? Thanks.

Standard battery is 8 Ah, I would prefer more if the size is available; Type designation YTX9-BS Capacity 12 V 28.8 kC (8 Ah)/10 HR Standard electrolyte S.G. 1.320 at 20 °C (68 °F)

Thanks. From what I can tell, the YTX9-BS (WxDxH) is 6.00" x 3.44" x 4.19" (150mm x 87mm x 105mm). The battery the dealer installed is 5.75" x 4.25" x 5.12" (145mm x 107mm x 130mm). Thus, the height is about an inch (25mm) too tall.

I dont know how Suzuki came up with the idea to allways have the lights on (with engine off), it seems stupid to me and maybe I will change the setting this summer, I just hate to push bikes around. The starter button might have a wire to help me out (cut the green with black dots wire)
If you replace the battery take it home by car, fill up, leave one hour, charge slow (below 4Ah) for 24 hours, leave few hours, install.

Well, the dealer confirmed that the incorrect battery was installed -- they were a bit embarassed and apologized about the error. They installed a new (correctly sized) battery during the recall service today. However, I like 650's advice about slow charging, so I'll go put it on the trickle charger for overnight charging.
