Any one fitted a Beowulf on their "F" and if so what do you think.

Geoff.

Hi Geoff, had a Beowulf Stainless exhaust fitted by the dealer before picking up the bike, so can't comment on performance over the original. The Beowulf gives a lower and louder tone to the exhaust from tickover right through the rev range, with the baffle in, having more of a roar than the usual 4 cyl howl at high rev's. Friends riding behind say the bike sounds really nice. With the baffle out (one screw) at tickover it is much the same but just gets louder and louder as the rev's raise (too loud for my taste). It has now been fitted for 6 months and is standing up to time well (I've just come back from a 6 week tour of France and Spain) with no real problems, a bit of surface rust on the inlet pipe and the bolt on the clamp has rusted up, the usual stuff. Overall I am happy with the Beowulf as it makes the bike look and sound like should. Hope this helps.

Thanks for that. Can I ask if you are pleased with the bike. I pick mine up tomorrow.

Thanks.

Geoff.

Love the bike, I can honestly say that after 6 wks and 4500 miles touring France and Spain on every type of road, I can't think of another bike I would rather have been on.

It's nimble enough to be great fun on twisty mountain roads and happy to cruise at 80/90 mph all day on the motorway. A true Sports Tourer.

The only problem I had was that it overheated twice, both times while going slowly though towns. (just after a long blast though the mountains). I just let it cool down for 5 min's and off we went again. I think there may be an issue with my fan sticking, the bike is due a service so will get the dealer to check it out.

I have to say that I have carried out several mods to get the comfort right but that is due more to me being 6 ft tall and 15 1/2 st (217 lb). I sure that if you are of more average size and don't plan on sitting on your bike for 8 hours at a time the stock set up will be fine.

Enjoy.

Steve

overheating is not at all normal. Your fans are probably not working. I ride all day long in 90+ degree temps in traffic and I have never overheated. I'd say take it in now before you really do some damage.

I did a training day and it was abit of waiting some times ,not moving at ALL and it was a warm day ,no problems and no heat on the legs.

Damn now that i think of it i wish i bought a beowulf pipe instead of the leo vince. First of all is way cheaper and the difference can't be that big between them. Right?

But are they EC-approved? The Beowulf site claims "road legal" though, not sure if that's the same thing.

Lack of EC certification, regardless of db level, is enough to have your bike towed away on German highways :x
