OK, so nothing over 6,000 rpms till 600 miles. I have logged in 100 miles on my new bike over 2 or 3 rides so far. I have been as high as 5000 rpms but that was in 6th gear. Is it ok to go that high in lower gears as long as not higher than 6000? After 600 miles, the manual says nothing over 9000 rpms till 1000 miles. Let me have some thoughts on what you believe breaks motor in best. Havin a rockin time so far.

Blackmax. There are quite a few posts on breaking the bike in and opinions do vary so do a search and you'll find everything you need to know.
Follow the book as close as you can but don't fear pushing it that extra little bit but do it wisely and only after you have a few hundred miles on the clock.
As for your question about the 6000rpm to each gear. It is okay and preferable to do it but I would avoid doing it in first and second for a while. The engine needs to be put under certain load (strain) for the parts to mesh together properly and using the 6000rpm through each gear ratio helps with this.
Don't baby the bike to run it in. Basically ride it like your just cruisin' around on a day off enjoying the ride.
After 49 years of riding, I have found the current motorcycles allow you to simply ride normally......just don't abuse the mechanicals and don't forget to bed in the brakes gently.
Always ride safely and keep your airspeed under control

I followed the manual to the letter, but I suspect I did not vary the rpm as much as it needed to be, because I have a noise that only appears at particular rpm. I suspect this is because the engine got too "worn" at that particular rpm during break in.
So my advice is just to make sure you dont "cruise" at a particular speed/rpm for too long.
