BROKEN STEERING LOCK, CAN'T TURN IGNITION - HELP!!!!

Hey there,

Woke up this morning to find that it looks like some one has tried to nick My GSX650F. The Hubbie after putting the disk lock on it could be bothered to put the chain on.

So it would appear someone has come along seen the no chain, broke the steering lock and tried to roll it back. When the disk lock has worked they have let it fall against the post (cracking the farring) it normally chained to and left it.

If anyone can help me with these questions I'd be really gratefull;

1) Does anyone know if the steering lock is broken on these bikes if that automatically means you can't turn the ignition on? (there is no odvious damage to the ignition barrel at all)

2) Is it dangerous to ride with the sterring lock broken?

3) And does anyone know a good reliable garage in Dartford area where we can have it looked at?

In the UK, Dartford is in Kent.
