One of my favorite things to do is pack up and hit the road. There are a few Motorcycle only campgrounds within a few hundred miles from me including some around Deals Gap and Blue Ridge Parkway. I use backpacking gear, sleeping bags and tents that are light and pack small. I recomend name brand tents free standing with aluminum poles. I don't usually prepare food at the camp, might bring some snacks but meals I eat in restaurants. I even outfitted my Sportster with quick release Pelican Boxes. I have not prepared my GSX650F for camping yet, but I will in the next couple of months.
Gary
Remember not to overpack.

Hi, I am going to France and Italy this summer with a friend on the bikes. We are going to camp to save money, but don't want to plan every campsite we are going to stay in so we have more freedom to make our own way through the country. Any advice on how to easily find campsites while travelling in Europe without needing to buy a detailed map for each country that shows campsites? Any tips would be greatly appreciated thanks!

I've done a little camping with the bike over the past two years and really had a good time. You can see a pic of my kit in the header of my blog at http://dazza.id.au

Nitekreeper, you've clearly proven that you have nothing better to do aside from trolling. I think everyone here would agree with me.
