Ok, wanted the change to fully synthetic oil from the dino oil that was used at its first service., now there are heaps of oils out there and even more suggestions on which is best. So i'm not saying the one i chose is better than any others. I'm just going to mention the difference i noticed as it may benefit others. I decided on Motul 7100 10-40 and also changed to a K&N oil filter. Once riding i found the engine to be quite abit quieter and appeared to run a bit smoother and sounded really nice as it climbed in revs. The big surprise was with the gear box, it is heaps quieter and downshifting was easier to slip into gear. It is like riding a different bike. i don't think it is just because i used Motul i beleive that it is that synthetic works better in most if not all aspects of what a motorcycle oil is required to do.
Not going to blab on anymore, but will just say, anyone thinking of changing to a fully synthetic oil, what are you waiting for?
My 2 cents worth.

I'm ready to change my oil for the first time. I've had the bike a bit over 3 weeks and have already surpassed the 600 mile mark. I've read a bunch regarding dino vs. synthetic and I'm still torn. Some say to wait until after the 1st service to switch to synthetic while others say no need. I saw the Motul at a dealership and was surpised at the price (16.50 a qt USD) compared to the Mobil 1 Syn for (6.50 a qt USD)
So I have been going back and forth in my head... wait until after the first service or go for it? Go for the Motul or the Mobil?

I would go with the Mobil, I would have brought it over the Motul, but i couldn't find it locally. Just make sure it's for motorcycles. I wasn't sure when to change to synthetic either, so i just waited until the motor was fully broken in. When i had my scooter it came with synthetic oil as did my cage.
PS Do that first oil change as soon as possible, there's alot of crap in the engine to get out. I did my first oil change at 200km with dino oil and the old oil was filthy.

I have yet to even ride my new 650F due to the glorious Canadian winter... actually it hasn't been bad this year, but still not motorcycle friendly.
Anyway... with my last bike (Boulevard M50) I switched to Mobil 1 full synthetic and couldn't believe how much smoother the gear box was, for that reason alone, I'm sold.
Based on yours, and others opinion,I too just changed to the same oil- the Motul, noticed a slight difference in smoothness, but questioning now if it was worth the extra money ( $ 60)

a simple review would have been "i emptied the old oil, changed the filter and put in new oil"

My dealer didn't have the Mobil 1 at one service so i got the Motul, wasn't really impressed with it, not as quiet or smooth as the Mobil 1, so now i get them to order some in if they are out. Very quiet and smooth, and a few extra km out of a tank. It's good stuff.
