Yep new to this forum, new to this style of bike but NOT new to riding. Been rideing 41 years and after haveing standards, Goldwings, and last but not least 3 Cruisers, I wanted to get back to something from my youth. A slick quiet quad engine. Researched my butt off and the GSX650F stayed in the front. Sold my 08 Nomad 1600 three weeks ago and picked up a left over 08 GSX650F. And everytime I ride it I get a Viagra moment. No wonder the young guys love sport bikes. This sucker ROCKS! And now I found this forum and see I am far from the only old dude riding this great bike. Will do a few small mods, got to its an unwritten law I think. Speaking of mods, I seen some post on here looking for a more upright rideing position. Got these today and they are great. Check www.pitposse.com and look at the universal risers for $29.00. Took about 15 min. to install and I plan to burn a tank of gas tomorrow. I did find that the dealer ship or factory had left the stock bar bolts very loose, glad I found it before haveing them dump me trying a panic stop or something. Ok I'll shut up now. Gret fourm...

Wow, 41 years? You've been riding longer than I have been alive, but I still count myself as an older rider on account of my desire for comfort and my usually sedate riding styel  Welcome to the forum. Don't forget to put your location in your profile so we can easily see where you are from.

What height did you set your risers to, i.e. did you use all of the spacers or just some of them?

Hi and welcome. Got you beat by a few years, first started stealing the oldmans vespa when I was 10 and buzzing the back roads then had to steal pennies for gas till the oldman found out and the pain in my behind convinced me crime doesn't pay. 47 years later and still riding. Just love this bike. Not sure where you are but by the dollar sign guess you in tha land of the free. Regards from Durban RSA

Thanks for the replys, glad to see any age riders, I caught some greif at work and family for getting this "crotch rocket" so its nice to know I am not alone just wanting to really enjoy riding.
All the spacers came with the universal set and I used all of them, have not tested but it looks like all cables and hoses are going to be ok. Will post pics if I figure out how.
Oh I love the blue, thats my color but this bike I opted for the black & silver.

Dennis Kirk, among others, has a great selection of bars in various widths, bends, rises, etc., that have been of help to me over the years in getting the best fit on bikes. They are cheap, easy to change and come in chrome and black chrome.

Always ride safely and keep your airspeed under control

That is the perfect bike for your area, you got some great roads up there.
I installed the risers from Pitpossie and they are great, looking at the touring windshield nexr myself.
Welcome.

GOINSOUTH,

How much rise did you go with and what size are our handle bars?

Thanks,

Pete

I've been at it for 41 years, too! Currently have the 650F and an '03 SV1000S- both great bikes. Since I've had the 650F, it gets used 3x as much as my SV1000...

Welcome.

GOINSOUTH, you are correct about the roads in this area, I rode about 90 miles today, a bit hot though, around 95F. Have you been on the "pig trail" to Fayetteville? It is one of my favorite rides, also HW 7 from Hot Springs north is a good ride as well as many other places.
I have been trying to locate "Pitpossie" risers without success. Can you give details where you found them please. I think my next addition to the bike will be a windshield, then the risers.

here ya go http://www.pitposse.com/index.html
