I'm wondering what the forum has to say about shifting without clutch? I've tried it a time or two, smooth as silk on the gsxf, one bike that I rode a few times and was thinking about buying, I almost thought the trany was going to fall out when I speed-shifted.

What does everyone think - good/bad or indiferent?

up shifting yes, down shifting no.

no for downshifting becuase you have to match the speed of the engine to the speed of the wheels etc otherwise you'll lock the rear wheel. It can be done, but its much much safer to use the clutch to feed the engine back to the wheel, rather than dumping it all at once.

Clutchless upshifts are fine and are usually better smoother and faster as long as your commited and dont faff about, one smooth solid kick up and into gear or you'll start grinding cogs.

I tryed on my other bikes ,I could never get it . :?

First time on this bike ,it just slid in to gear,SMOOOTH as silk ,better then useing the clutch. :D
Only do it every now and again and only going into 4.`5 or 6th.

There is probably pros and cons to it ,I only do it some times ,Im sure mister Suzuki made the clutch for a good reason.

Ive tried it and the more i try it the more i like the way it works (going up in gears only though) its a very smooth way to change gears , But i dont use this method from first to second - only from second up and i always clutch it coming down thru the gears.

I have been shifting clutchless since 2000. (all suzuki's and 1 yamaha. I only do it though when at the track (1/4 mile) or leisurely accelerating...

when under hard accel on the streets, I tend not to...for that "just incase I miss shift and look like an ass" kinda thing ;)
