I'm sure this has been mentioned before but I just finished perusing an article espousing the virtues of clutchless shifting. With some trepidation I gave it a shot, and with great success.

I find that if I just let up on the throttle, the bike slips into the next gear effortlessly (the gear changes are actually smoother without the clutch). Downshifting seems to work really well also. It seems like I'm on the clutch a lot, so this is a real treat for me.

I've experimented with this, too. It works great for upshifting. I haven't tried downshifting...

I've been doing it for years. I avoid upshifting without clutch from 1st to 2nd, and avoid downshifting without clutch from 2nd to 1st..other than that, I quite often shift clutchless in the higher gears. No problems so far.

I upshift from 2nd - 6th all the time, it is so smooth on on our bikes, but avoid clutchless downshifting as i can't seem to do it smoothly, i have trouble matching revs and gearbox speed, so i just don't bother.

Clutchless downshifting is not a friendly thing to do to your trans.

I find that you really have to blip the throttle to downshift clutchless. Guessing its because the bike's gearing is so low.

Up and down ,no problems ....I made my self learn how to do it just in case I needed to do it in an emergency ...like i had a broken clutch lever.
