Hey Folks, So after about 2 weeks not being able to ride my SuziF (was out of town *SIGH), I finally was able to take her out for a spin on Friday....... Well I5 here in Washington State on Friday's in the Afternoon, is a parking lot, but unfortunately I have to take her, in order to make it home, else I've to go the very long way around and I wasn't in the mood in doing so. Anyway, while getting stuck traffic.... the red light went off, indicating Oil Temp is out of whack, and a slight smolder cloud came out of the fairing opening, so I leave the I5 as quick as I can to check up on her.... Couldn't see much, only inter coolant was leaking a bit, yet as traffic opened up, I went back on ti I5 and creeped home, because of the wind hitting my bike and about 49F outside, the red light went away.
So long story short, turns out the motor which runs the cooling fan is burned shut, yet the fan rotates totally free *ARGH, meaning not obstructed.
So I disassembled my SuziF, called the dealer's parts department and inquired the price for that cooling fan assy!!! Guess what that guy told me on the phone.
Volker; that assy is gonna cost ya $459 and change. I replied, say what? $459 and change.. seriously man for a itty bitty plastic fan and motor you want to charge me a 12th of the bikes retail price? Yup was his answer. I told him, nice try. Went to EBay and found a 900 mile old assy for my 08 SuziF for $50 bucks, now I'm waiting for the shipment to land, so I can fix her up again. Downside, I've gotta wait, so I'm again stuck at home and can't ride my SuziF

There's a 15 amp fuse that protects nothing but the fan. Did you check it? There's also a fan relay that could have failed, the relay is protected by a fuse also, but that same fuse also protects other even more vital stuff, like the ECU and starter relay, so that fuse is ruled out. If it comes down to it, motosport is having a 25% off sale on OEM parts. If it comes down to it, and you do need the fan, that would save you over $100, plus free shipping and no tax either. http://www.motosport.com/motorcycle/oem ... F/RADIATOR
Thanks a lot Bikehigh, Great page you sent. I haven't checked on the relay yet, would though want to believe that it's functioning. I've also bought me the OBD Tool, so I hope it will tell me about the details. (Bought it, because I've got 3 Suzi's in my family and all 3 can be serviced with it, instead of me buying those 3 dealer plugs, apart more tools for me *LOL).

My 650f had the same thing happen to it when I got stuck in traffic. Red light came on, so I got to the should ASAP. I let it cool down for a bit and one of the guys I was riding with told me to check the fan fuse. Turns out it was blown, put a new one in and it's been fine since, so you definitely want to check it. It's next to the battery, under the seat behind the black left side fairing.
Hi Wil, thanks for the tip, I will have a look at that as well. What bugs me is the following. My brother is riding my VStrom and when I spin the fan, it runs just fine and free. The fan on my SuziF is pretty much not spinning unless I make an effort. So I got of EBay a 900 mile old fan assy, cus the OEM part cost $500 for $50 and will do the entire replacement.

So the Fan assy, which I got of Ebay, arrived YEAH and for sure the motor of my old fan is burned to hell. Now I will check them fuses put her back together and off I go, boy my arse is itching, haven't ridden my bike again in 5 days.......

So fellas, SuziF is back to herself...... after yet another week of being out of town, I finally was able to conclude the repair of her. Actually without me being out of town, would have taken me yet another week anyways.
So here's how it went, I'm about to reassemble SuziF by putting one of the bolts which holds the cooler to the frame, I just put in that bolt and want to hand tighten it as it made pop and I had half of that f'n bolt in my hand. I guess that Japanese man which assembled my bike back when did over torque this bolt so it just snapped.... Boy was I fuming, so off I go trying to find a metric bolt, cuz I don't want to go to the Suzi dealer that blood sucker. Well, well well... I ended up having to go there, since no hardware store does actually carry metric bolts here... So now I'm beyond fuming, enter the dealership's parts department and inquire for this bolt...... should be a 5 mins job right? WRONG!!! The guy says, well Mr. Brunke... you ought to wait a week, we don't have that bolt in stock. Me back to him, say what? You ought to wait... I interrupted him, good man, I've heard you already the first time, I just can't believe what I'm hearing, one week for a darn bolt! Seriously? 4 bucks later I leave the shop, head down, totally defeated.....
Guys let me tell you, you better have a second SuziF in the garage for parts, else you a f'd!!.
But that's not the bad part.... turns out the reason for my fan collapsing was......
My T-Rex frame sliders, the holding bracket/brace for the left hand side stood so far in, that it pushed against the fan, which of course wouldn't want to work being that pushed in... so disassembled those sliders, taken off that brace and called it the day, now she's running again.
I knew, driving a "German" engineered car, can be painful, trying to find parts here at home, yet a MASS PRODUCTION bike would give me that grief... I would have never thought of it.

So many jokes in there about the "imperial" system, but I'll let them go because I actually feel for you RPK... Good to hear you're back in the saddle, but I would NEVER have thought of the sliders being a problem! Have you checked the fitting and/or spoken to the vendor?
I also have NO DOUBT whatsoever that you used the words "my good man" in conversation; I just wish I was there to hear it...
