Here are some pics of my short ride today on some backroads here in New Brunswick. Covered bridges and beautiful scenery. One pic of me and my son on the start of a ride day.

I am looking foward to heading out East at the end of July. Will be passing thru NB to Cape Breton. Can't wait to experience the down east food and hospitality.

There are some covered bridges in Ohio too (and other states).
They had roofs to protect the deck and structure, which was timber, from weather.
I have seen at least one bridge (W Pa.) that was retrofitted with hidden steel beams, to allow cars and buses to use it. The timber was too weak for such weight. Horses and buggies don't weigh very much! Nor do GSX650Fs!
