Well ,you may have read my post where my bike rolled off the stand after my second ride with only 180k on it ...It would be about $1200 bucks to replace everything good as new ...P.s I have sought counselling and am over it now
Anyway ...Along with gouging the side cover ,mirror ,fairing and front and rear signals. It also took a couple of chunks out of the tail peice.,,
So what to do .Well I sanded and repainted the mirror with semi flat black (it looks like new) replaced the side cover($100) replaced the signal light housings (for free) with the exact same housings left over from my SV650s (lED light upgrade).
What to do for the tailpiece worth ($400 Can + stickers) or at minimum a paint job and stickers ?? I decided to fill the gouges in with glazing putty and then I designed a sticker which in my mind compliments the current sticker.I am pretty happy with the results At least now I wont have to see those gouges everytime I look at the bike..The right side is the same but without the key cut out..Image

Its amazing what people can do when it comes to spending money, I guess after this, anything is possible.

Great job, good luck, and remember, leave it in gear next time, hard learnt lesson.

Nice work Farley!!!!

The new stickers you made for the bike look awesome. It's a shame to see a new machine damaged like you described but at least you were able to fix it up and in my opinion make it look better.

Cheers. BB

Total repair cost
Mirror fix
$1.50 1/3 can-high build primer (leftover from other project)
$1.50 1/3 can Semi Flat black paint (i still have most of the can left)
$1.00 sheet of 800 wet and dry sand paper for final sanding
free various sand paper for rough sanding(i borrowed it from work ;)
$100 new side cover #note One dealer wanted $157 for the same part
$12 (I think) side cover gasket
tail piece repair
$6 spot glaze putty for filling in chips
$free (decals design) I used masking tape and a pencil to trace the area and then transfered the tape to cardboard and fooled around with the lines
$ 50 dollars for 3 sets they had to scan my template and mess around
Its actually blue on a white back ground to match the original.
TotaL $172 and a fair bit of time VS $1200 Aprox .I havent fixed the fairing yet but I will submit pics when I do some more creative sticker use..Crazy thing I ordered frame sliders 2 days after getting the bike and they showed up a week after the crunch @#$@#$ probably would have saved a lot

farley,
maybe you should give consideration to taking up bike body repair on the side. I think you found a niche here!

Great job Farley! Be prepared to ship/sell some to someone else in the future. Pops suggestion about leaving the bike in gear is something that I never do and should do everytime.

I will post a scan of the sticker template I made here for anyone to use if there is a way to post something that can be printed full size..any body know what format would work best?

plus I have one extra set of stickers I will send to whom ever needs them the most in exchange for some sort of cool Motorcycle paraphanalia or gadget or whatever?
