Oldbloke,
in the same section of the manual the picture of "Mode Select Switch" is shown... it's a DPST switch with a bit of wire and suitable 6-pin connector hanging off it... The mode the manual is talking about is a service mode, for displaying and clearing error codes out of the ECU. I'm sure Suzuki will make a big deal out if it and charge $60 or more for this high-tech piece of gear, while the rest of us happily do with a bent paper clip liberated from work. Same word - mode, but totally different things.

If anyone cares, I had my bike in for the first service. With the wire OFF. The guy even took it for a 5 minute test ride, but I don't think he went very far or very fast on a rainy day.
It wasn't a Suzuki dealer. Cost me $187 plus $26 for original Suzuki oil filter which I got from a dealer... what a ripoff. It was his suggestion to get original filter, just in case of warranty claim. I'm sure Suzuki would not honour the warranty after the exhaust change and clip-ons, but I'm also sure I'd see them in court about it if I needed to claim it cause of engine problems. Let them see how they gonna explain to the Magistrate what handlebars have to do with the exploding engine
P.S. Now that I know what this dealer's stamp looks like, my future servicing is going to become much, much cheaper...

You just put the old OEM parts back on if you need to make a claim ,they won't give a shit that you did change them over. They get payed by suzuki ,they want the money...they will cover your warrenty.

Oh no, now you've appealed to the dark side of my cheapness, seeing as I have 34,000km and only one stamp in my handbook. Might improve my trade in value if there was more regular shceduled servicing

BLOOOODY AWESOME MY FRIEND!!!
I previously saw a different post or video in which the wrong was was shown to cut, i was wondering why there was ZERO difference, so a few days ago i removed the 2ndaries and lost all go above 7k rpm, after much calling around some moto shops and dyno shops (i even got hung up on when i told them it was for a lams bike), 1 dude actually did a bit of leg work for me and called me back twice with fixes. He informed me that the wire i had cut had to be the wrong one, then i found your pic........... reconnected the old cut wire and snapped the one you have in your pic and holy snapping duck shit!!!!
Went for ride in the national park today 1st good straight i gave it a boot..... 200kms no sweat!! and it sounds fucking AMAZING! does wheel stands and has some pull.
NOW! this being said, i think if you are are 1ST time rider with this bike with no previous experience on fast / high powered bikes DO NOT DO THIS! I've been riding dirt bikes for 15 years the ktm 450 sxf i had had way more pull and go then the gsx in lame mode. so yeah... please.. if you do this and you don't have the confidence know the road you are on before you go Marco Simoncelli on your ass.
as for you Skinny thanks a ton for this pic.. you're a legend.

Kw Mikie, Kw . I think cutting the wire roughly doubles it, and according to this reliable source of information we call wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suzuki_GSX650F the full powered unit is meant to make 63kw (although I'd be interested to see what she makes with some mods like a pipe, k&N's, opened airbox, secondary's removed etc... I wouldn't expect much of a gain at all, but would be interested to see)... So I'd have a guess at around the 30kw mark. I think the LAMS law is 30kw per two hundred and something kgs from memory... I know the salesman told me the gsx only just fits in under the "power" limit as a LAMS bike... Even on full power, it's still a fat bike with very little power in comparison to the other 600's...

Hello. So it is very interesting topic. But does it realy help to get more horse power? I have a bike, it is 85 bhp (63 kW), so if i would cut the wire i will have more? I can cut it now, but in fact i can fell the differnce only in April. Russian winter is cold and snowly.

hey cano. It sounds like you've got the full powered model bike already. Here in AUS, we have a restricted version of this bike for learners... If you've already got that much power, 63kw as is, cutting the wire (if its even there???) wont do anything... It only affects the LAMS restricted bikes...

I think some people should be aware that not all LAMS approved GSX650F's are restricted. I bought mine before LAMS came in (Jan 2009) and it definitely has full power all the way up to the red line. About six months later I got a long letter from the Vicroads and a new sticker with LAMS printed on it. The letter stated that LAMS approval is not based on power to weight but on whether this model a bike was statistically over represented in accidents. Because it's not and its 650cc then my bike is LAMS approved. This seems to indicate that even if you do the wire cut mod, your bike still should be approved. After all if you bought my bike off me there would be no question of LAMS approval, it says so on the sticker.

Perhaps that is a uniquely Victorian approach. The NSW Road Traffic Authority says:
The LAM scheme allows novice riders to ride moderately powered motorcycles. These motorcycles must be:
- listed in the publication known as ‘Approved Motorcycles for Novice Riders’ published on Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority) website and, - have an engine capacity up to and including 660ml and do not exceed a power to weight ratio of 150 kilowatts per tonne.
Or maybe you just got lucky. I would be very surprised if the LAMS scheme allows a learner rider to ride an un-restricted 650F.
