I just checked ebay and if you do a search using "suzuki sep" the prices are somewhat better for the extended warranty. For example there is a 5yr for $360 which works out to $72/yr. My 1yr runs out in Oct so I have lots of time to think about it, may spring for another 3yrs. I usually don't bother but given what shops charge for labor and fact that mine is 1st year of the model here in states I may do it. I am thinking just having the injection system serviced could cost more than the warranty extension.
I've been a keen biker since the age of about 10 when we "borrowed" the oldmans vespa, ( and got seriously sore bums from his belt) now nearly 50 years later I still love riding. I do think most bikers just can't help looking and wishing when those new models hit the showrooms and I often want to pop in and just have a look, but and here's the but, every time I get out on this bike I fall in love with it all over again, having ridden many bikes from 350 2/stroke screemers to gold wings over the years (never a Harley, yet, maybe I try one soon) I still feel this is one of the nicest all round bikes I have ever ridden, so for me it's definately a keeper. Regards from Durban RSA.

If you are confident to get more out than you pay in, then why not proceed. Perhaps they assume most won't seek the services you will and hence you benefit by being knowledgeable about the fine print and cost/benefit analysis. Regards from NM USA.

Lets see, $360... warranty extension or vario touring screen & ventura pack system? Guess what it will be. I have been spending too much on stuff for this bike as it is.

I will be trading it in before the warranty expires, just so that I get a decent price for the trade in. From what I have heard the Suzuki warranty is pretty worthless anyway, but it will appeal to someone buying a used bike and hence makes it easier to move from a dealers perspective.
Unfortunately, I just do not comfortably fit on the 650F and that is the only problem I have with the bike. Risers and Sargent seat have not made the amount of difference I had hoped unfortunately.. So where to from here? I dont know, either a V-Strom 650 or a M50. Something I can do 500km/day on without begging for mercy.

Hp - Have you tryed different shaped handlebars, with offset style risers that bring the bars in 2 inches or so , perhaps a gell seat specifically made from a local upholster and lowering the pegs 1/2 inch, a bmw type full touring screen.
If it was me i would try these changes first as it may make a big difference.
For me i'm sore as after 800km , not good enough i want to able to do 1500km a day in comfort .I've just bought new handle bars and ordered setback risers , my seat is going in for a gell job , and i'm considering a full sized ermax touring screen later even know imo they look shit.
I actually want to set the bike up to minic the riding position of the gtr1400 kawasaki, i'll keep you posted.

Sounds like we are looking for the same thing sydrd. I essentially want an FJR1300, but with half the weight
It looks like changing bikes will cost me around $4000-5500, so I may have to delay that for a while. I am considering putting some V-Strom handlebars on. What handle bars are you getting? The problem is, the more upright you sit, the more pressure is on your arse.
I have done a lot of research into lowering footpegs and I have yet to find a real solution. The only product i can find is from "Wildhair Accessories" (I started a thread about this a while back) but apparently they are less than ideal, and replace the actual footpegs with sporty little metal footpegs which I dont want. Other options end up moving your foot forwards relative to the gear change/rear brake levers which is no good for me either.
Let me know anything you find out coz if I can reach the level of comfort I need then I will have lots of money left over for a big tv.

hp, When I had my seat modded with gel pad he told me I could raise or lower the seat, whatever. I opted to come down a bit. Maybe you could take your original seat, get the gel pad inserted and have it raised 1 or 2 inches? The sargent seat you have would probably sell easily and cover the cost of the mod. I thought I read somewhere on here someone from aus was getting their seat modded?

Hmm, interesting idea. I have found this place: http://www.twowheeltrimming.com.au/ that looks pretty good. For some reason I never even considered raising the seat to make more leg room, jeez I can be stupid.
I should point out that there is nothing wrong with the Sargent seat, there is something wrong with my arse If the Sargent was 1" wider and the riders area was 1" longer I would be all set. It might be time for me to switch to low-carb beer

Just thought of something, why not cut a few thick pieces of say carpet padding in shape of front part of seat and try riding with that to see if it helps before you decide to mod. Im sure they could make it a bit wider too.
Ya I need to do low carb beer too and avoid all the great pretzels we have around here.

here is something else you can try. The 07 bandit 1250 seat is wider and also adjustable 1 inch up in all around or leave back of front seat stock and raise front of front seat or vise versa. there are many ways to adjust and they can be had for around 100 us dollars. I would tell you were to get one if you want one. i put on on my wifes bike and put the stock seat way in the back of the shed for it will never be on the bike again.

HP...FJR and half the weight? A lot of people would like that! What I have found from this forum is the GSX 650F versatility in fitting different size people. Women love it, youngsters love it, and old over weight (240lb) farts like myself find it very comfortable. I have read many of your post and surprised to find you would sell it. Just curious, what size frame are you?
On post.
I am definitely keeping mine...unless I walk into the showroom and .........
