that stinky new engine smell is giving me a headache.

It sure beats that burning oil/ burning electrical insulation smell you get from an old bike !

My guess is that synthetic oil is a little TOO effective at lubricating the engine in it's early stages of break in which prevents the cylinder walls and rings from being "scored' sufficiently. I have heard from many sources that synthetic oil should be left till after the engine is correctly broken in.

got 300 miles on my bike so far, and today when i got on i must have poped the cherry for my clutch because that thing is smooth as silk now. damn this thing rides like a dream!!
