Just had the letter today from suzuki for my bike to be recalled. When i contacted the head office and enquired on the nature of the problem and asked if the bike was still good to ride, they stated it was up to me, even though the letter states not to ride the bike in this condition -gamble with my neck why dont you. Is the bike safe to ride or not, simple - No - ok then you going to cover cost of it been transported to dealership ? No - eh your having a laugh. How are you to get it there? Dealer says they will fetch it at a cost? This fault is not down to us so why should we bear the cost. I use my bike to get to work and i am told it will take upto a week to get it sorted - how do you get to work thenou. You can hire a bike from dealer at a cost - your joking I bought a bike from you already not my bloody fault there is a problem. Let suzuki stand to the extra costs. Why should we take on all the problems recalls cause. As you can tell i am proper pissed at the mo and even thinking of getting rid as i depend on the bike for work. It sucks big time to be let down by such a big franchise.

What I did was offer a deposit on the part so they would order it and when I did that they agreed to order it in advance without a deposit. When it came in I drove over and had them change it, only took a few minutes. The mechanic was so fast he even pinched the crankshaft sensor wires under it leaving me stranded on the highway a month later, but that's another story.

If you are talking about the recifier recall, its not a big deal. Very few bikes actually have the problem (none at my local dealership) and even if your bike did have the problem the worst that would happen is that your electrical system would end up stuffed, possibly leaving you stranded, but I dont believe there is any threat to your safety. I think the part of the letter telling you to not ride the bike is just part of the stock letter they send out for all recalls and would apply to recalls for things such as weak frame welds and the like, things that could result in a serious accident. A faulty rectifier isnt going to kill you.
Having said all that, I do understand that you would be pissed off at Suzuki for telling you not to ride the bike and then telling you that getting the bike to the dealership is your problem. This is just the way it all works now. They already have your cash so they really dont give a shit and will do as little as they possibly can for you. Welcome to the new world

Just ring up the dealer & tell them you need the bike for work and can't leave it for a week. Organise a day you can ride the bike there & tell them you will need to wait for it so they need to have the parts there. As others have said in other posts the work should take no longer than 1 hour as long as they have the parts there. I had to wait a day or two for mine as the parts hadn't shown up but I was in no urgent need for the bike.( It actually sat there for a week until I could get back there). If your regulator has failed the bike will shut down when the battery goes flat & you'll be stuck. FYI this is approximately 20-25 minutes of riding, but the dash will go crazy before hand. Mine was one of the few that did fail & I had to chase up a trailer to get it to the dealer as they are about 40 minutes away. Bikes was out of warranty & it wasn't going to cost me anything so it was just finding the time.
BTW, If you haven't already abused the staff at the dealership, just try talking to them & explaining the situation & they should be able to help out. After all, they want your future business don't they.

FFS do we really need to start this discussion again? It's been done to death here... I had mine done yesterday while getting a service, but I wasn't at all concerned prior and was riding normally. /thread, move along now, nothing to see here.
Oh, and harden up, OK?!

Hahaha. You got yourself all worked up about a trifling matter, and one that's been covered in-depth here if you'd bothered to search, or even browse the topics. Yes that's right: 5 minutes of reading and your panties would've un-bunched all by themselves...
I'll even give you a tip: there's a GSX forum in your neck of the woods - I think you have to bring your own needles and wool, but you'll fit in there just fine. Tell 'em NK sent ya...
