any have any experience with this. The manual says to use a multimeter to first check if all of the wiring in intact. Then make sure oxygen sensor working or could be ECM.

Any thoughts?

OK, used a multi-meter and checked continuity of the wiring and it was ok. This is under 1A-107 in the Service Manual. Not sure if I'm reading Step 2 correctly. HO2 sensor output voltage at idle seems to be good. So under the "Yes" column it states "If wire and connections are OK, intermittent trouble or faulty ECM". SOooo I'm thinking the ECM, i.e. Control Unit, FI is bad..... Not good. New they are listed at $1,700. On Ebay they are going for around $900. This majorly sucks.

If anyone can speak to the biking gods and tell me I'm wrong I'd appriciate a second opinion.

btw, when the bike is at idle the exhaust smells "funny". To my motorhead that tells me that it isn't burning right.... (again, second opinions are welcome), which could also be an indication of a bad ECM.....

listen i would buy a 150 to 200 dollar o2 sensor before you spend 1700 dollars on a ecm.
O2 sensors are funny and fail at diffent times and temps. most likey it's a bad o2 sensor. Buy a sensor install clear codes and road test.

Found a ECM from a bone yard in Florida for $400. Ran through the test twice again tonight. Continuity tests are all good and voltage is good. According to manual that means the ECM (ECU, Control Unit, FI) is bad.

I agree but the ECM was still bad. I will eliminate the 02 censor in the future so I can get the better power and torque.

recently the FI light started coming on ... would not show when started from cold but if run for 10 mins then switched off for say 5 mins would appear. If left longer light didnt show. checked error codes by shorting dealer plug and C44 appeared.

checked ohms between white wires on oxygen sensor plug and it had gone open circuit .. seems Suzuki price for a new sensor is over £150 (but didnt check) .. found a used one from a 1000 mile only written off bike (I already have that bikes engine and brakes in stock) for £23 !! 15 minute job to change .... with FI light on bike returned greater fuiel mileage by running lean .. it is now back to form ... 49000 miles on clock so I guess bits will start to fail ..
