It's cold overhere.
First day with temperatures below freezing.

I bought me a Pyramid front fender extender, to keep all roadmuck off my engine,
Doesn't look great, but does the job.
I bought me a Fog-City visor..... didn't work at all, second time it fogged up completely.
I bought me a Coolmax motorbike mask with a Ultra III tec membrane.... don'like it... have to try it some more.
Last but not least..
Tomorrow I have to go to the dentist, get a new crown on my tooth......
Don't know yet what I like most.... the cold weather or the dentist....
The cold weather will last a week, the dentist 2 hours....


First go to bed... sleep on it.

If ya find a way to successfully combat visor fog, then please please us and post it up on here!

The best thing I have found to combat visor fog is the pinlock system. My helmet came with a visor set up for a pinlock insert. Bought the anti-fog insert and installed it. It does not fog up whatsoever. Even breathing on it does not fog it up. So that is my suggestion. Not sure how expensive it is to install on a visor that isn't set up for pinlock. Shouldn't be bad though I wouldn't think.

Never had any condense in my HJC helmet

The store I went to, don't have the template for my visor to put pinlock pins in the right place.
Today I returned my helmet, with the second fogcity visor and a few moisty , dull spots.

After a few telephone calls... they found the problem.
I bought a Scorpion EXO-1000 helmet with an everclear visor.
Most times this visor won't fog up... except when it's cold.
Thats why I wanted an extra visor.
The extra layer on the inside of the visor reacts with the fogcity visor in a humid situation.

He contacted Scorpion, and they know this problem.
What he has to do is remove the anti fog layer from the visor, let it dry half a day and place a new fogcityvisor.
Tomorrow he will get the stuff to remove this layer.

He does not charge me for both visors he used.
Normally he is a (sub)dealer of many brand of helmets... except Scorpion.
Other dealers got an internal memo concerning this problem with fogcityvisors.

I bought a fog-off face mask. A bit strange to use at first but after a week I thought it was the best thing ever.
Not only keeps the fogg off the visor but also keeps your neck warm and wind noise out.

Just wish they would make a heat off too. Today was 39c.

39c = hot
39F = almost Cold
So you only have to change the C into F (like in gsx650 F)

Yesterday was 20F when I went out for short ride.
Found out what a big deal "fogging" is!! And is particular PIA when ya gotta wear glasses.
Seems that the visor inserts will do nothing for fogging of my glasses .... correct?
Will the face mask approach likely protect the glasses from fogging?

Also, outfit named Respro markets face mask called Foggy. From what I've read it seems to be effective IF ya take a little time to fit it correctly for your particular face shape. Anybody had experience?

Lampie, interesting comments about the scorpion helmet you have, I tried one at the nec bike show and was seriously thinking about buying one as the visor supposed to be everclear with no fogging. Does it not work well on a cold day?
I have the fogcity in my current helmet without the pinlock system - they do a generic one - word of advice the glue they use to attach to visor without pinlock is poor. I had to buy some industry strength clear gel tape to make sure the visor didn't fall off when I was riding!
Otherwise works a treat. Would people recommend fogcity over inbuilt fog free visors?

everclear visor will work OK till +6C
Below that, you more than often have to use the city-visor opener.
The black lever on the left side of the visor opens the visor just a little.
Fog (moist) will dissapear quickly, but when driving with an open helmet... not a great thing in freezing weather.
when driving above 80km/h it will stay (almost) clear and won't fog up anymore.
you have to use the front chin ventilation.
Even when raining you can use this city-visor-opener-lever thing......

Can't say too much about the glasses fogging as I do not wear them but the face mask directs all air down and out through a tube at the
base of the helmet. Occasionaly some air comes out just under your eyes but that means you do not have the mask fitted properly.
I think it would be your best option though. They are cheap (I paid $20 in the shop) so they are worth the money to just give a go.
As I mentioned they do feel very strange and maybe even uncomfortable for a week or two, but once you are used to it
there is no turning back!!! after using it for a full winter, I wont touch another visor insert again.

Just to add to the visor insert talk, one thing I learned is that if you do not line it up perfectly on the visor and any single
part of it touches the seal on the helmet, water will get in when it rains. I was warned about it when I bought one, and yes
it did happen. It was like looked through a half full glass of water with the line right at my eye level.
