Winter came late, then we got a lot of snow very late in the winter, then it has been unusually cold so the snow wouldn't melt :(
The roads have been mostly rideable for a couple of weeks but my bike was trapped by a foot of snow in my yard and icy local small streets etc
After a few hours of shoveling snow and other such fun related activities the now warmer weather melted the escape route enough for my GSX650F to be free!
There was a bit of a trial stage in my back yard and the lawn will probably take a couple of years to recover, but who cares!

It was about 10 C = 50 F with mostly overcast skies but some sun every now and then. The roads are quite ok except a lot of sand and gravel everywhere...

I rode about 200 km mostly on bigger highways but they still have the wintertime 80 kph limit which is pretty frustrating, so I ended up trying some small twisty roads. Had to be very careful but still it was great.

Hi some_finn,

Just by way of contrast to your great photo, I have attached a photo of a spot only 10 minutes from where I live showing blue skies, blue sea and a blue bike !!

Cheers from Oz.

The weather over here is still very much the same, daytime highs closer to 5 than 10 degrees (40-50 F) and below freezing during night. :?

Thanks to my heated gear I've managed 1300 km of riding in the past two weeks.

The weather apparently will be really sh*tty over the weekend so I went for a 200 km afternoon ride on the local small roads which are in pretty good condition now.

Hey some_finn, love the photos. Thanks for posting - it's great to see nice roads in another country.

Our days and nights are cooling off as we are now in autumn and heading for winter. 23 degrees during the day and 10 to 13 overnight.

We have also been forecast a wet weekend, but the boys in the weather bureau can never get it right, so I might get a ride in.

Cheers.

Hi Guys, looking at your photos I think wow, thats beautiful country but those snow/cold days are not for me. Makes me realise how lucky I am to be living in sunny Durban and the guys downunder in Oz sure have great weather for riding as well. Thanks for sharing. Regards from Durban RSA.

We usually have about two weeks of that kind of intolerable heat every summer :?

Had a little snow today! Thankfully it melted when it hit the ground but still...

Hi some_finn - what about 40 - 45 degrees !! What do you call that ?????????

I think if you came to Oz, you would melt and if I went to Finland I would freeze solid !!!

No wonder you have heated gear.

Cheers mate - I'm just about to open a beer.

I just had my morning coffee after opening the curtains to see this:

Good thing I've been too lazy to change the tires on my car, I still have the studded winter tires on...

After a very cold spell, today it was about 12 degrees C (54 F) and the weekend should be quite summerish by Finnish standards, like 15 C = 60 F even. I might get to ride without my heated gear for the first time this spring!

I tried the GoPro today, so if you're want to see some bumpy and sandy Finnish roads, here's your change.

Video

Click "HQ" for slightly better quality.

BTW what is it called in English when the ground freezes and causes big bumps and cracks in the roads? Is there a word for it? Anyway, all the best twisties seem to have a lot of that this spring :?
