Hi,

I've read a couple of existing threads...

http://www.gsx650f.biz/power-outlet-t763-45.html

I have a 12v Garmin cable with an inline fuse I need to wire up to the bike. I'd like to do it cleanly, and if I need to get a power block or whatever they are called, thats cool.. just that I dont know what I should do.

I know the + wire should connect to something like the headlight that is powered on when the bike is turned on.. ?

I also want to install a better horn like in the thread above..

any help or tips or links to articles would be apprecicated!

thanks

I wired mine directly to the battery with the fused lead incluoded in the Zumo 550 kit. That way it charges even when the bike is off.

as for the horn, I added a PIAA horn with a relay wiring kit from eager beaver

good luck, be happy, and ride safe

bigbutt: I have a Garmin Nuvi 755T I use in the car. I plan to mount this on the bike. I just got the correct charging cable from ebay - comes with inline fuse. I also ordered a bar mount from ebay.. hoping it will fit ok...

emsguy: So you only drain the battery (charge the unit) when the Zumo is connected?

Yeah, I am looking at the harness/wiring kits from Eastern Beaver. They look pretty tidy.

I try to ride the bike a couple of times a week in the summer. The Zumo has never drained the bike battery. I heard that it is the charging and discharging cycles that drain rechargeable batteries, so I try to keep all my batteries fully charged.

I hear a lot of people wire their GPS's to be on all the time and not on with accessories..

I have mine direct wired to the battery with an inline fuse. As long as its not plugged in it will not draw power.
