Before reinserting the bar end into the handle bar, you will need to first tighten the screw a little bit to expand the little rubber stopper that's on the other end (the end that ends up in the handle bar). This will create some friction inside the handle bar when inserted so you can tighten it without it moving around.

*** Also make sure you did not lose the nut on the other end of the screw you are tightening.

Hope that helps.

Doh! where's the rest of the bar end? You're not suppose to completely unscrew it. It looks like the second photo shows the rest of the bar end still inside the handle bar. Pull it out and make sure you do not lose the nut on the other end of it.

Look at this diagram for a better understanding.

The rubber stopper and nut is probably still in your bar. (Item # 8 on IssaX's diagram). The end piece removes as well.

I accidentally knocked mine out of place when swapping over to Manic Salamanders - very easy to find though, you just blow through the opposite end of the bar and it comes out.

Cheers :D

I did the same thing recently when I replaced my bar end with a throttle lock. I took off the other end and gave it a sharp blow of air and the nut came shooting right out. If that ever happens again you might try that for a simple fix.
