on the topic of thievery, I got my front fairing, for 70 bucks on craigslist.
I got my Ivan's SMART TRE plug for 35 bucks. Got my exhaust for 200 Shipped. bought a kit with about every GSX650F bolt you can imagine for 40 bucks, so I've got spare engine mount bolts, swingarm bolts, engine case bolts, tank bolts, only thing that got left out that I'm sorely missing are the axle assemblies. but yanno what can you do. that front fender of mine, was 25 bucks, with 5 bucks of plastic-weld in it from autozone that I cut and sanded to a modestly good looking piece! I got my bandit seat for 90 bucks...
my buddy brian bought a new engine wiring harness for his salvage title GSXR1000, for 200 bucks. which is a damn steal. It came with the XTRE still attached to it. needless to say I was in shock, and mildly pissed at having to tell him what a sweet deal he got, because he had no idea what it was.

My bike was paid off at 0% finance, and my new Oxford Panniers were a freebie from a member of another forum. I thought I was doing good there, but you're kicking my arse!

I bought my bike for 1250 bucks from an auction, had it delivered to me for around 1500 grand total and finished the state inspected rebuild for under $2500. no loans, no payments.
OH! also, you should see the initial photos, haa! You'll be impressed.
How I recieved my fairings. Off the bike, with dings and scratches from being sat on a semi/laurie's pallate like that. Awesome guys, thanks. lol.
Exhaust off the bike. as delivered. again, awesome. Obvious someone had an aftermarket pipe, and kept it for the bike the insurance company got him on, after this one was written off.
Dirty, dusty, ugly, with nasty nasty auction tape that took LITERALLY hours to scrub off. resulting in spiderwebbed scratches in the clearcoat. It took meguires compound and the powerball to rectify the garbage. The seat was also tragically hard to get clean for whatever reason.
Mashed front suspension, some brain dead simpleton mispelled SUZUKI, when it's written all over the goddam bike, and left it like that. both sides. it's no wonder he wadded the bike up with 61 miles on it. crissakes.
That's after everything was detailed and detailed and detailed until I couldn't find anything else to shine up. that's also the broken frontend that I wound up replacing for 70 bucks (THANK GOD for guys that occasionally don't do their MSRP homework). Note the no mirror bracket there. Ugh. It was hell finding another bracket, without having a mirror attached to it.
the lefthand bar end was mangled beyond use as well. after figuring out that suzuki wanted 30 dollars for ONE BAR END ASSEMBLY, I got a set from bike bandit for 15 bucks. They've really worked out quite well considering. If you don't have barends, after 30 minutes you get vibration nerve damage akin to that of running an electric sander for the same amount of time. Good old tingling "sander hands"....
and that's exactly how I ran it after I got it state inspected, until that winter when I got all the plastics repaired and everything painted the way it currently is, and back on!

I think it's gonna be a goal of mine to post a sub 12 second time in the 1/4 mile on this thing before I get off of it.
I'm really wondering if the exhaust work, and the power commander will get me there, or if i'll have to resort to dale walker's airbox and butterfly mod, or... *gasp* nitrous.

12.58 is my current hot time. I might have to resort to a tie strapped frontend and a 2" drop rear dogbone as well. the lower CG tends to nix all wheelspin and the cinched down frontend nixes most all wheelies, period, turns it into a 60-footing machine from hades. we'll see though. may not have to come to any drag racing specific shenanigans..

I've not seen or heard anyone cut laps as nice as 12.5.
I've seen a lot of claims online, with no videos, and no slips. I saw one mag said 11.9 1/4 time, Yeah right. maybe with a 90lb girl on it, with a tre, tiestraps, the dogbone, 12psi rear tire, and a lot of a guts and skill...

I don't even know why, but I'm now wondering when the next "open night" at Eastern Creek (International Dragway...) might be! Just judging by the odd "street race" I may or may not have participated in, I know my reaction time is better than average...
What about you other Sydney boys? Care to line up at the 'tree with me? Would be something of a spectacle methinks...

well if I go out and beat on it the ECU freaks out with the new values and FI codes me. The budget auction didn't include the O2 eliminator, so! it runs SOOOO very buttery smooth in the low revs now. the on-off switch between coasting 0% throttle and cruising, with that shunt and jutter is gone. also, I haven't done any 25 mph in second cruising just yet, but there's this air fuel resonance and it has a cut-out point, and I -think- the commanders tune nixes it.
we'll see. Now to get the o2 sensor bypassed, and get the cat converter cut outta the header, and get it to the dyno for a real tune.
