Hi
I gave my bike a full clean yesterday . When going over the rim stripes (that red looks so much prettier being reflective again) the rear one chain side had some black sticky dirt on them. I suppose that's chain wax residu that won't come off. Tried bleach, tried scrubbing with dish soap. WD40 could cause decoloring I read - so I'm reluctant to making that rim stripe pink :)
How do you remove that dirt?
Cheers

Dude, Bleach? Come on now that is for bathrooms.
Use Simple Green and an old mircro fiber. it works great. Or a mild citrus based degreaser. After each ride I just use a spray detailer and a mirco fiber. Takes off all the brake dust and my wheels always look sharp. If you wipe them down after each ride you will never have the problem again. And use a quality chain lube like Motrex Racing or Bel-Ray. Do use WD-40 to clean the chain well before lubing. This is the time to check chain tension and re-set if needed. Clean the sprockets well (Front and Rear) You will have to remove the front cover to get all the gunk out around the front sprocket. It is recommended that you let the lube set up over night before riding. If you have a centerstand or in my case a rear stand it is a snap. I have two piles of micro fibers one for clean detail and one for the nasty jobs such as this.
