When you know you did something wrong...like parking the bike with the parkinglights on.
And after some hours, there is no energy left in the battery....
Simply connect the positive battery wire to another 12Volt battery, it can be a battery from your neighbours car...with jumpercables
Then connect the negative wire
Wait one minute.... start your bike, and let it run one minute with the 2 batteries connected.
Disconnect the negative wire first, then the positive wire.

No need to jump start it. Turn on key, pull in clutch, first gear, get a push or go downhill. Get up some speed and dump the clutch. Iwill start. Just like push starting a manual car.

I did it a few weeks ago at the race track. Lef the parking lights on. Had a slight grade so I just jumped on it, got a push and dumped the clutch. It fired right up.

i would be afraid that it would stop suddenly and make me do a tank slapper! geeeeez..... but if it works.... oh and i would only jump the bike for the quick start then disconnect the wires then let it run at idle for a while. it should generate the slower charge better ... similar to a trickle charger. and there shouldnt be any sort of unsafeness with the electronics... our batteries are 12 volts just like all cars and trucks....

As Long as the voltage of the batteries is the same and you connect the batteries in parrallel ( Positive to Positive, negative to negative) you wont do any damage! if you mess up the connections youll send 24 volts into your bike and smoke it completely

I've heard it's actually easier to jump start the bike if you're rolling it in second or third gear, rather than first?
I haven't had to try it but it does make some sense - the bike can certainly pull in second or third gear at running speed when the motor is already going, so I wouldn't see why it couldn't start at that speed as well. Also I would guess that because the ratios are higher in second and third it would turn over easier than in first?
I'm not that mechanically minded so just guessing really, but I have had battery problems in the past and it would be good to know the best technique if I ever do have to jumpstart the bike.

.
I push start 100's of cars at work and we always are told to use 3rd gear.
I drive the new and used cars of the ships from around the world all makes and models ,alot of them have been sitting on the docks and on the ships for weeks and weeks and the batteys are flat.

AED i think is correct. If your jump starting i would never try 1st gear. Imagine the surge when it fired up? What would be the natural thing to do? Twist the throttle as your bumping it. If your in 2nd 3rd you have a bit of play to catch the clutch before you go firing through the neighbours hedge. Hope you can undrstand what i am trying to say.
HA!!!!! "If your in 2nd 3rd you have a bit of play to catch the clutch before you go firing through the neighbours hedge".......Now thats some funny Sh*t!!!!!
