I got an Ermax windscreen but I can't figure out how to remove the stock windscreen.

Removed so far:
The instrument cluster
The plastic that the instrument cluster bolts to
The 4 screws holding the stock windscreen on

What else do you have to remove?
Does anyone have details and pics showing the removal?

.... and yes I have done multiple searches on here and can't find anything.

Bret

My memory is sketchy, and there is one thread around here that does explain with pictures the process, but it's not UBER specific.

I think you may be at the point where you need to wiggle out the windscreen, takes a bit of force.

I assume you have your mirrors off already right? I can't believe I can't remember but I believe that's necessary as well.

No i haven't taken the mirrors off yet.... Thought I might need to but the bolts on the outside of the mirror are smooth ( or is that just a cap over a screw)..... I didn't see anyway to loosen the mirrors from inside.

I tried moving the windscreen but there is still one plastic piece that looks like it bolts to the back of the frame... which again I thought I would need to remove the mirrors.

Thanks for the link!!! Why this didn't come up in my search I don't know. I had all those words.

Well I finally have the new windshield on... man that definitely took more time than I was expecting. It did help to remove the mirrors. It gives you that little bit of extra room.

I did have to drill out the bottom holes on the windshield just a little so i could get the rubber grommets back in the holes.

Hopefully I'll get to ride it to work tomorrow and I'll post a review.

Thanks for everyone's help!

Bret

My Review:

Well.. I am finally posting my review of the Ermax windscreen.

First impression after getting the windscreen on was that it is tilted back a little more than I figured. I was hoping that with the flip on the edge that it would be up just a little taller. It doesn't put the wind up over my helmet like I was hoping for but it does seem to split it and distribute to the sides of my helmet a little more. Before if I had my visor open even a little bit I was getting a face full of air. Now I can open it all the way or even just a crack and it seems like a breeze and not a strong force. Also with my visor open a crack I can tilt my head down just a tiny bit more and the breeze even less. I can still feel the force of some of the wind on the upper half of my helmet which is where I was hoping that the windscreen would send it up and over me more. It does give me that little extra room that I only have to lean in part ways to tuck to have the air over me and not all the way down as with the stock screen.

Overall I'm liking this new windscreen over the stock. Doesn't change the look much but does distributes the air differently so it's not as strong in the same spots as before.

For reference I'm 5'6" and weigh about 175 pounds.
