1) Put your keys on a key fob, Twist the throttle up... The trip up past triple digits will be fun, but your tach case will be forever marred as the wind beats/blugeons those keys against your instrument cluster.
2) Put your tank bag on the ground, then place it on your tank. The magnets will pick up metal shavings and then carve the shine right off of your tank.
3) Use a bungee cord with metal ends... it's sure to leave a mark.
Keeping these bikes looking like new is hard work!
Any other don't do's that you all would like to share?

Replace above with...
Don't have that second glass of red wine.
Cheers, Matt

Never scratch off a sticker with your finger ,even a small finger nail to try to get under the stick edge with leave a mark. Never ride with out a tank pad ,your belt will scratch the tank ..but you can cover it with a tank pad ,if you do.

Buy a bike that was raped by the previous owner: all damage belongs to you and saves you money at the same time. For the first time in 20 years I managed to drive away with the front brake lock on the disk; three steps: 1 lock the bike 2 start bike next day 3 drive away allzheimer, korsakov, dementia

inre: Disc lock drive-off.
I invested in one of those "Xena" disk locks. If you forget to unlock it: Believe me, as soon as you get on the bike, before you even insert the key, the disk will scream with a wail that will freeze your brain. You will NOT drive away, you will scream & try to stop the blood pouring out of your ears. plugs or no.posting.php?mode=reply&f=1&t=4134#

Don't drop the wash mitt on the ground and continue to wash the bike with it... same goes for drying it with a towel, don't use one that you've brought to the beach before! There WILL still be sand in it and it will scratch the hell out of the paint.
And after it rains, don't try to remove water spots with your shirt sleeve. They will start to come off but you'll put nasty swirls in your paint.

If you have to park near a solid wall, make sure you leave enough "lean" room when you tip the Fandit onto it's side-stand toward the wall. Tricky weight to save as your mirror gives way in slow motion.
Doh!

Don't get off the bike when it's facing downwards. Due to a lot of distractions you will forget to put the bike in gear. (engine off !) And when you are standing on both feet beside the bike,it will lift a little and it will flip your sidestand.
Parking in a spot so someone else can get it, so some Einstein in a car squeezes in there where they can bang their door a few times on the side of the bike. If you are really lucking the driver can be a fat slob in Levis with rivets so they can rub against your bike while moving between it and his/her car. Or having facilities maintenance decide to pressure wash the walls and equipment next to the motorcycle parking, leaving all the mud and grit on your ride.
