In this video at the :07-:08 mark you can hear a loud noise, if this is what you're talking about, thats the windshield vibration.

no, its a continuous howling noise after about 25mph up until 60 or 70 when the wind noise on my helmet takes over. I tried masking over the mock air vents today and then masking over the air gap at the bottom of the windshield but neither made a difference. Perhaps its something to do with the brakes settling in?

If the noise change when slightly applying your front brakes then your brake pads are partially engaged, loosen the bleeder and push the brake cylinder plunger inward to have more room for the pads to play and closed the bleeder back. Or do this, when the noise comes up put your bike in neutral, turn off the engine by the kill switch while the bike is in motion(25 to 60 MPH) and hear where the noise is coming from. If the noise disappear while the bike is in motion then wind is not the factor. what else could it be but vibration. Also, check your cooling fan operation, there are times they produced a howling noise. Hope this will help.

Another thing to consider is that the tyres can make quite an overpowering noise, depending on the road surface. Usually the "rougher" the road the louder the noise.
Also, fairings have a habit of magnifying and reflecting noise.

I have never noticed any howling noise from the front of my bike. When I'm riding with the wind direction, the bike is fairly quiet, but for the limited noise from the exhaust.

Next time I get a chance, I think I'll try RoyP's suggestion of hitting the cutout switch to eliminate anything from the engine side. Who do you fancy for the National? My money is on Offshore Account.

Hello again matey , Having read through some of the suggestions i have done a few experiments myself. You may be interested to know that after someone suggesting that amplified road noise may be responsible i was out yesterday and to my surprise i noticed that when i rode at the speed when at its worsed, ie 25mph ish changes in road surface altered the sound to some degree. Try it yourself and let me know. I found the best result was to find a continuous white line on the road and try riding along it then off it.

Ta for that.
I tried the cutout switch and the noise was still there so definitely not engine related.
I normally ride with my helmet cracked open a bit for ventilation. When I shut it completely the noise does go away but I'm not sure if that's because everything's gone quieter or whether the helmet is the cause. My helmet's never made that noise before on previous bikes but maybe its a combination of the bike's aerodynamics and my helmet. I have tried wearing my spare helmet and again its quieter. Still convinced though that there is a noise coming from the front.

Thanks to human potato ! Cheers matey. I can honestly say that I can put tyre noise as the culprit for my noise anyway.
I can hear the noise which as you say must be amplified by the fairing.Proof for this can be tested as i said before, where possible ride the bike on a normal road surface and then try it whilst changing surface type ie white line marker, or something relatively smoother. Give it a go!worked for me. Has not cured the problem but at least I feel better knowing that nothing is seriously wrong.

I have the same noise, off and on....Sunday I was riding on an old piece of highway that had several new blacktop patches in it because of repair work, every time I rode over the new blacktop the noise went away....it's road noise from the front tire, or at least it was in my case.

I get a howling around 4-5000 rpm at 95 km/ph and seems to stay
sounds like wind to me .It does kind of switch on rather than a gradual increase.I havent gone over 115kph yet for any length of time yet as I only have 300 k on it so far that first 1000k seems to be taking forever

I have had my bike for almost a year now and the wind noise can be very annoying at times.Seems to get louder as I ride faster. I have changed to a MRA Vario touring screen and it changed the direction of the air but in my opinion it made the noise louder? I wear a HJC helmet and wear earplugs but sure would like to quiet the wind noise a little more.
