I have had my black 08 GSX650F for over a month now and everything is great. It is my first motorcycle! I keep noticing yellow fluid on the side of the engine, right in front of your shin. I wanted to know if this is bad thing. As well I would really appreciate tips on what you guys do to maintain the bike.
Other than Nitekreeper's keen observation on possible pet problems, you may want to look at your bike's fluid levels. If you don't smell gas, or burning oil, then the only 2 other fluids are brake fluid from either the brake or clutch, or coolant. There is yellow antifreeze but see what the color is in your tank (under the seat on the right side, look at your owners manual). Usually antifreeze leaks have a unique smell to them too, which may help. However, as I'm sure Nitekreeper will note, you will need to know what cat piss smells like to differentiate that from coolant. Either way, if you are still under warranty then take it to a dealer. Otherwise take off your lower fairings and see if you can pinpoint where the fluid is coming from. Hopefully is it something simple such as a loose hose connection.
