Finished up a set of house plans today (about 200 hours labour - don't ask), so off to make delivery to the client; about a 3km round trip.
On the bike, delivery made, happy client. Hmmm... Nice day I notice, blue sky, mildish. No great urgency to get back. Wonder how busy the Black Spur might be today? Been meaning to give it a go, after all...
Just like my detour to catch a glance of Cadel Evans the other week, this was something I would never, ever consider doing in a boxy-glassy-four-wheel-A-to-B-thing.
This motorcycling pastime is fantastic!
Cheers, Matt Happy Camper

I'll be able to ride solo next year once Inhave my full license. So far allow my rides have been all day group affairs. It will be nice to be able to just pick up and go with the bike instead of the big Chevy Suburban when I want to run some errands.
Just one thing though. Small errands around the area will be a little bit more complicated with the bike. To gear up just for the corner store bag of milk seems a little bit of a stretch. And then to walk around in summer with leathers on doing multiple errands seems difficult
What do you guys do?
I guess I'll have to work out some different types of errands that may take a little bit longer .

Mate - gear up to the point you feel safe. I always wear gloves, nobody wants their chef to have gravel rash on their hands when they make their dinner! Plus, that would piss me off no end. A bit of a knock on the legs, well, I am prepared to put up with it. All day ride through twisties - increased risk of coming off= full leathers. Going to and from work = boots, jeans and leather jacket. Blast around the block when I am oiling my chain, shorts and a t-shirt (trainers optional).
Motorcycle gear is a compromise, how far are you prepared to compromise?

Thankyou Whitey... I had finally erased that image from my mind... And now it's back... In full force 0_o
As for gear, get yourself a pair of Draggin' jeans or something similar if you'll be cruising around town for a few hours on end They just look like normal jeans, so they look presentable, the kevlar will keep you safe, and they actually breathe so you don't sweat... I personally always wear at least a jacket and gloves on my way into work... Around town the chance of some noob running into you is far too big if you ask me. I'd rather sweat a bit and put up with it than come off and be without my precious skin Personal choice though i spose. And if that doesent appeal to you, there's always a much more NK friendly option of course- http://themurkyfringe.com/wp-content/up ... ps-man.jpg

I got lucky a good co worker who sold his Sportster gave me a pair of Frank Thomas rider pants, with knee protection . And very warm and waterproof. So i added a pair of Cycle Gear rider boots with sliders, all set for winter.
