Just wanted to say how much I love the "Gear Indicator", it comes in handy at times. I have owned 4 bikes and never had this option, I really like it. And really all the other bonuses like gas gauge, fuel injection, etc. it is a truly a wonderful bike. Seat height for me is compatible for my height (5' 4") although I do wear higher boots when driving feel more comfortable when I stop.

As this is the only bike I've owned I have to agree that I like the gear indicator too. There are times it would be nice to have both the clock and odo at the same time, but I can usually guage distance by the soreness of my back side :)

My light has never worked. I never even realized what it was for until one of my buddies was reprogramming his on his R1 and he looked at my bike and told me I had one too :-P

The gear indicator is not really a new idea, Suzuki has used it off and on since the mid 70's and Honda had it on alot of bikes in the 80's.

It's probably set to OFF ,as mine was from the factory ,you need to set it .

-----------------------

Put bike in Neutral .

Flick the bikes kill which to RUN.

Hold down the 2 buttons on the side of the rev gauge ,{one on top and another under it.}

While holding the 2 buttons down ,turn KEY on { NOT THE MOTOR }....once the rev needle does its "thing" zero revs to 12,000 rev and back ,then you can set it .
You will see the light come on solid or blink so ,push the TOP button to which one you want.
And push the buttom button to switch between functions.

You can set it to flash brighter also ..keep looking at the rev gauge and the speedo screen you will see changes come up.

To set the RPM light to come on at a certain RPM.

Watch the rev guage needle ,one push of the TOP button will make the needle move ,so you can set it from 5000,rpm ,6,000 rpm ......to what ever you like.

Some times you have to start again if you pressed the wrong buttons to set it ,see the manual its in there but not real clear.

Hope this helps you ,its abit of a pain ,but you will figure it out. :wink:

I love my gear indicator, but on the topic of the shift light, I love how when I pass cars at night, that very bright little shift light makes them move over a bit. Something about flashing white lights that makes people take notice as you pass their driver door.
