I have a Shoei XR1000 with a dark smoke vizor, almost never ride at night and even then for in town speeds (up to 40mph)its good enough. It also has the pinlock (anti fog) system. Great helmet and perfect fit for me, but thats different for everybody.

Shoei Raid as main lid (it hit the deck in my crash last weekend and is now written off due to minor impact damage) - will get a Raid 2 on the insurance
Nitro full face flip sometimes
Open face is for when out on small bikes - CB50j or similiar
I wont wear open face on larger bikes - not safe enough ...

I started with a HJC Cl-15 "Draco" A few months ago I got the HJC FS-10 (with the flip down integrated sunscreen) I didn't like that so I got a Scorpion exo-1000.. REALLY hated that so I am using the HJC again awaiting something that really jumps out at me but also includes the sunscreen. I like the idea of not having to carry a tinted, and clear screen with me. I don't like wearing sunglasses with my helmet.
I use to do the same way... screen exchange is really boring when you need to carry them both.

I just bought a Shoei RF-1000 for my very first helmet. I am a new rider and just got my bike last Saturday. The helmet is GREAT and very comfortable. It is a full face of course but circulates air very well too.

I use one of these, it changes colour when in full sun and stops the visor fogging up every time. simply awesome and well priced

I now ride with a matte black Shoei RF-1000 I bicked up from Cycle Gear a couple of years ago for 299. When I had my V-Rod I wore a 3/4 for the 1st year or so. That was until I was riding with someone who took a bit of debris to the face on the freeway. A little piece of plastic on a car can do some damage when it comes at you at 65+ mph. After that I started wearing the full face at all times. The helmet is a little noisy and fogs up easy at times but I would still buy the helmet again if necessary.
