Thanks for the tips. I assume you mean e-surance (with the hot cartoon chick) rather than e-assurance (please correct if I'm wrong). I checked into them and can't get them in my region. Will call progressive and whomever else I can think of.
I just got my quote from State Farm on my 650F. I think it's good.
With 25/50/25, a $50 (fifty) deductable on Comp, and $500 deductible on collision, with uninsured motorist coverage... $238 every 6 months. $39 a month.

I had Geico and found that I was paying the same amount for just liability as I do for full coverage with State Farm. $276.00 per year. I did switch auto, home and Motorcycle. Works for me.

I often wondered that myself. Here I am with a perfect driving record with no accidents. I was going to transfer my insurance from my 1100cc cruiser to the 650F and was shocked when they said it would be $200.00 per year more. After reading the 1250 Bandit forum everybody said State Farm was the least expensive. My reaction was can't be, there are always way more. But because they rate the bike insurance by CC's and don't take the classification into account it's much less expensive. Doesn't really answer your question but it might explain how State Farm and Progressive do it.
I took off the Uninsured Motorist part of it, and I'm now down to $298 for the entire year. I'm happy with that. The "uninsured motorist" was the single largest expense in the insurance quote. It was almost 30% of the total quote.

I don't have that option in Michigan. We have this thing called 'No Fault'. Doesn't matter who's fault it is, your own insurance pays for the damages. Makes it pricier.

If you are in canada i always Find jevco to be the best. They only deal with motorcycles and will cover your riding gear for ACV. Most companies only cover the helmet! I am stuck with F***ing ICBC now so i have no choice!

I just picked up my 08' GSX Wednesday. I pay $575 a year. I'm almost 21 one speeding ticket last fall. My deductibles are $500 collison and $500 comprehensive. I also get a ton of discounts from still living in my parents home and multiple vehicles, but my bike plan is in my name. I'm using American Family Insurance Co.

Excellent replies.
Even with the exchange the US rates seem to be better. We have the no fault thing going on here too in Ontario CAN. Just like Michigan. I'm pretty sure that our no fault has to do mostly with liability. I know that one company goes after the other in most cases for their cash. So because they fight each other for the repairs etc. we pay more.
As far as I can tell if you can get good coverage for less than 500 US or 750 CDN you are doing very well IMO.
