Not so happy about my insurance renewal.

I got a letter from the insurance company...boo hoo.. about how they have had an increase in claimes over the last few years. Thought my insurance was going down this year as I'm now 30.

They want just under 1200 CDN bucks. Excellent driving record and no claimes. 500 deduct., 1,000,000 Liab. Full coverage with the bike valued at about $7400.00. CDN.

What do you think about the GSX650F insurance where you live?

The only thing about owning a motorcycle that ever causes me stress is the insurance industry. I guess I'll just have to keep riding to make myself feel better!

Pete.

Holy crap. I pay half that. $750 aus. (about $660 canadian) Full coverage including modifications and $20 million liability. If the bike is a write-off in two years they give me a new one.

Can you shop around? One company here, wanted $980 for full coverage another (the one I went with) charged $320. This was for the exact same coverage.

I just renewed mine yesterday. $323 per year, full coverage, $250 deductible, million dollar liability with loss of use on the bike and towing.
I'm sure it helps that I'm 45 and haven't had a ticket of any kind in almost 20 years.

I do plan on doing some more shopping. I don't think I should pay over 700 CDN. Last year I was ok with paying 850 as it had only been the second consecutive year that I had bike insurence in quite some time. Even though I have been fully licenced for bikes since I was 17 they still treated me like a new rider two years ago after not having a bike for about 6 years. I'll be making some calls today.

I'm paying 1200 for my 650f and a 08 zx6r with full coverage on both, plus towing. I got quotes from geico and a few other places.. geico wanted 3500 a year for JUST THE 650F!!!!

I went with this company called Rider.. They are strictly for motorcycle riders. I think they are only in NY, PA and Ohio USA though.. Awesome company.

I'm in New Brunswick, Canada, and I'm paying $370 per year with State Farm for my 650F. I'm a 28 y/o male with a clean driving record.

They had the best rates by far, the only problem is with them, you have to switch over your car, but for me, to save like $1200 per year, that was an easy decision.

They only rate bikes buy engine size, and your driving experience goes with your "Car" license... so I had like 12 year of experience although I just got my bike license 4 years ago.

Which company are you with please? I think I need to get a quote from them. I'm similarly disposed to you and paying much more to geico for less coverage.

Try progressive, my coverage and cost (and age) is similar as well.

Based on my research from other forums and shopping around, in Michigan (U.S.) State Farm is less expensive for the GSX650F because of the way they rate motorcycles. With my cruiser that I had, Progressive was less, because of the type of bike. $323.00 year fullcoverage with State Far.Perfect driving record (not sure how with the way I drive :) )

Thanks for all the replies.

Good news I did my shopping around today and got my rate with the same full coverage down 600 (CDN) Dollars!!

Which is much closer to what my US neighbors are paying when you do the exchange.

:D

Regards,

Pete

I am using e-assurance. I think the actual policy is carried thru Atlas insurance. When I bought my bike I called e-assurance, Geico, Progressive and several others, they had the best coverage and price. My actual insurance agent suggested them as there company would no longer cover motorcycles anymore. I asked them about the company and my agent said they were on the up and up, so I went with them.
