I am beginning to think that insurance companies are like drug dealers. the first time you buy they give you the good stuff at a good price. then when you come back to them for more the give the crappier stuff at a higher price.....anyone else see this connection?
I have had the same problem my whole life. I shop around to find the most reasonable premium. I stay with that company for a few years, then they ALWAYS jack up the rates to what everybody else charges.
I think the insurance companies figure that most people will just keep paying whatever they are charged, without shopping around.
I find that every 2-7 years I have to change Insurers.
HI from Canuk land!! In New Brunswick, my quotes for a new '08 gsx650f is 650$ for 1mil and collision, no comp 1000 deduct... for that xtra 150 I'll lock the steering and keep it in garage.. online quotes called for way to much... 2200 to 3500 depending on what coverage...

Contract? In the U.S., you can switch carriers whenever you want and the balance of the paid coverage is refunded. Is this done differently in the wilds of the north?
HAHA. oh ya they screw you up here. your better off with out insurance most the time, youd save enough in 2 years to buy a brand new bike, and if you cancel your policy they will only give you a portion back, plus for some of us younger or newer drivers they want like $4000 all at once to ride for a year
Thanks for the thread folks. I am currently shopping for insurance since this is the first NEW bike I have owned in years! I am finding the rates to be all over the board -- it's ridiculous. Looks like I am going with State Farm --- their rates are not the best but I have a couple of friends who made claims with them and were satisfied with the service.

I went with Progressive, they have an addition section to protect any of your accessories. Since I have a 3k paint job, plus the givi bagsn and brackets, i need that extra coverage

In Quebec we have a company called jevco which charges me 488 per year and that's full coverage as my bike is new. If I just wanted the minimum it would cost me 100$ so ya if you live in my province consider jevco. I am not sure if they are available through out Canada but try contacting them to see if they are out there in you're area.
