Ok...so i'm looking to change my insurance company to find something a little cheaper. Paying $1100/CDN right now.

Had a friend tell me of another insurance company that has pretty competitive rates. So i call them a couple months ago and they quoted me like $300 to $400 less than what i'm paying.

So i had to wait to switch as i'm in a contract till August.

Called that company today to double check the quote they gave me in the past. And now they are saying that the GSX650F
is now considered a 'Sport bike' and they now want between $2500 to $3000 a year!!!!!!!!!!!!
so i just hung up! LOL

Are they thinking it's in the same class as gixxers? Come on!

Just a thought........

Contract? In the U.S., you can switch carriers whenever you want and the balance of the paid coverage is refunded. Is this done differently in the wilds of the north?

I'm paying $300 a year, which is about $100 more than I paid for my Harley, due to the GSX being a sport bike

I'm paying $350-something a year with State Farm. Of course, that's for a guy in his thirties with a squeaky-clean record along with homeowner's and auto insurance with State Farm as well, for the combined discounts.

There's a really wide deviation between carriers. As I recall, State Farm jumps their rates at 750cc where most others raise it at 600cc. I was with Safeco, a locally-based carrier, for a couple of years but they wanted something ridiculous, over $700, to insure my Fixxer where my 749cc Vulcan had been $120-something.

I'm with Progressive through USAA. I'm 54, no accidents, claims in 35 years. Maybe the difference in prices. The next cheapest was $50 more a year...

nevermind lol you're from ontario! I lived there for 7 years while there I owned a 83 gs750e. my first quote for liability was just a lil over 2 grand. after taking the bike course it dropped 900 dollors. if you haven't taken the course...for the sake of 400 dollors you will save large amounts of money in the long run.

I was quoted about $750AUD for full comprehensive, so I went for third party with fire and theft cover for $140AUD.

;)

My wife's GS500F is only $300AUD for full comprehensive... quite a bit cheaper than the fixxer!

:D

...still I shouldn't complain, at least I'm not trying to insure a Hayabusa!

Liability + Theft = €240 , with 1 clean year.
Full coverage/All risk = €660

I didn't get that because when you have caused the accedent you drop 5 stages and I would go from 660 to 1800 a year. Untill I got 5-7 clean years there is no point in going Full coverage. Up to €4000 of damage its cheaper to have Liability+Theft. Gotta love insurance!!!
