That is a great deal. I dont think I will be that lucky. I only got the dealer down another few hundred yesterday right now with a 5 yr warranty included its $7980 out the door. A lot I know and I've been searching within 400 miles and can't find one cheaper if at all. It's as though no one is selling their used 2009's either. I like to think that means the bike is so awesome no one wants to get rid of it. I guess what I need to ask myself now is if my opportunity cost is worth the potential 3Gs I'd be losing if I decide to sell after buying or if riding this baby next week is worth the extra dough. There's a lot of factors going into vehicle purchases now adays that are hard to put monetary value on. Like sweet @ss forums with cool people. I also own a yami raider and the peeps on the forum I visit have saved me about 3 trips to the dealer. I'm getting the same vibe here!
good advice, I found one farther away for $5500 and printed it out to show the manager. going back after work today to see if he'll match it.
TomcatVet if you used to fly an F-14 and now ride a gsxf it must be a sweet bike!
I flew Tomcats for about 15 years in the height of the cold war. Rode Harley's for the last 20. Went with my son to help him get his first bike, a Kawasaki Ninja 500, and saw the GSX-650F there. Wanted a change of pace from cruisers, (got tired of so easily scraping pegs around corners), so I traded my Harley for it. I'm 6'2" and so I like how the GSX is taller than my FXD was, and it is about 100 lbs lighter. Engine is way smoother, more power at half the displacement, and it actually starts when cold with its fuel injection. Totally different riding experience, but you can't really compare a cruiser to a sport/tourer. So yes, I like the bike, the looks, how it rides (better on my back actually), and the cost. I don't think I would have bought it at full retail. Getting it for $5500 was too hard to pass up. Also got the Ninja for $4K. Only downside that my friends that ride Harleys aren't quite as friendly any more.
Back to your buying. If the local dealer won't deal just go to the one farther away. Experience has taught me that you need to walk away about 3 times to get the deal you want.

cool story! and thanks for your service defending our great nation, at mach2 lol. that's really cool though. you must have some crazy awesome stories under your belt! my dad was a captain in the air force but he passed when i was really young otherwise i would have probably followed in his footsteps. both my parents were pilots and i never really felt the urge to fly until i recently watched the blue angels dvd narrated by tom seleck. it really shows how much of a thrill flying a jet must be and how physically demanding it is! cheers to you sir

Hey Rob, I bought a brand new 08 with 0 miles in Lumberton, NC in March for $5100.
Give Currie Chainsaw in Lumberton a call and see if they have anymore. It is about an 700 mile trip from Ft. Lauderdale. But I have ridden further.
Back in 88, when I was still on active duty and MUCH younger, I rode a 600 Hurricane from Raleigh, NC to Pascagula Mississippi where my ship was getting a new sonar dome.
That was a long ride...

thanks Steve. It's official...proud new owner of a new 2009 GSX650F.
I did end up paying a little more but I don't care! I'm really happy with this motorcycle so far. Already put 135 miles on her and the tank has still got some fuel. Corners like a dream, smooth as silk, comfortable and race day capable at the same time. I also have a yamaha raider and this is my first sport bike. Can't believe the difference in powerband. I understand now why these bikes have such high rpm's. So different than a cruiser. So yea, glad to be here and hope to get to know more of you guys over time.
The hardest part of buying this bike new? Keeping her under 6k rpm during the 500 mile engine break in.
Overhere, the bikes (and cars) are very expensive due to enormous tax we have to pay on new cars and bikes. Normally a bandit 650SA sells for 7999 euro (=11000 US dollar !!!!) and now Suzuki gives a discount of 3000 Euro. that's 30% off the price, makes it relative cheap. I bought a GSF650SA, and going to get the last red one today.
That's nothing; I paid $20,017 last autumn for a brand new 2010 model with ABS, including an in-colored Givi topbox, a Shoei XR-1100 helmet and a disc lock. Denmark by far has the most crazy taxes on motorcycles and cars in the world:
Af afgiftspligtig værdi (liable to duty): 0 % under 8.900 kr. 105 %. af 8.900-24.900 kr. 180 %. over 24.900 kr.
This is for MCs.
The $20,000 is considered cheap and a lots of value in the GSXF for the money. Maybe I should move to the States Damn, I envy you the low prizes on vehicles.

As you've seen from the posts the dealer there has inflated their price. I think if you just look around FL, and on the internet, Craigs list for instance, you'll find new or low miles ones for a lot less. I bought a 2008 for $5500, 0 miles here. Some found the same think, new, 0 miles for $1000 less. Look at what the used ones are selling for to gauge what the bike is worth. There are a couple on eBay, used, where the bids are at $2K-$3K. The dealers were getting incentives to get these out of the warehouse. So be warned, if you pay the + $7K for one, you will probably lose half that as soon as you ride it off. I see the same thing for the 2009's, there are a bunch of new ones left over because of the economy. If you want to work with that dealer just tell him outright that you've found one farther away for $5500. They will either deal or not...Also, check out all the dealers within 100 miles or so. There must be a ton down there in the Miami area and up to Orlando.
Thank-you. I used your advise and purchased a new 2009 for 5500.00 out the door.
Be aware that many of the internet "deals" had additional destination and prep charges that can add up significantly; ranging from 500 to as much as 1700$ more than the "advertised" price.
