Just use a pocket knife to pry them off, they pop up no problem and go back on easy.

You responded to my other post about the handlebar ends - I still have all the pieces, are you saying I assemble it all outside and tighten it up and then shove it in and tighten more until it jams in good? Does it hook into anything inside??

Also, after I adjust the bars, is there anything in particular I should checking for in their new position besides the obvious (cable play, being able to turn without hitting gas, etc)? Any of you guys have any suggestions from your own tampering??

Yes that is what I am saying put it together outside and tighten it some shove it in and snug it down. Also that's pretty much all u do when u are adjusting your handle bars n

You can't rotate the bars alot ,because the housing for the switches had a nob sticking out from it that goes into the bars that holds them in place and your leavers will be out of line with your wrist and fingers ,if you get my drift.
Just pop the little silver clips of the nut ,and undo the hex screws ,but make sure there is even space [gap] between the top clamp and the bottom when you tighten them back up...you don't want one side touching the clamp and the other side with a 3 mill gap.

I use a scalpel to get those little caps off - doesn't mash the cap quite so much...
